Fanfic Rec: Cousinjean's "The Butterfly Effect" I like cousinjean's Buffy a hell of a lot more than the one on the show. I can't convince myself that the one in the story is like the one on the show, but since I like this one better -- what the hell. It's more enjoyable than Season 7 actually was. It's Spuffy and it made me cry for Spike.

Reaction to Tonight's Survivor not much of a reaction other than to the trailer for next week. They SO made a mistake by not voting Jon out when they had a chance. Never trust a backstabbing weasel. Don't even think that you can USE a backstabbing weasel because they'll probably stab you in the back before you can use them. This will probably be like Season 1 where the most obnoxious ass wins. I can't imagine why Jon is still there except that everyone was too stupid to vote him off when they should have.

Book most recently read: Michael Crichton's Timeline. Interesting in the quantum physics stuff, but it's more or less "Jurassic Park" in the Middle Ages.

Book set aside to read: Cursed I skimmed the end (yes, I even go into books spoiled) and it seems that for once there's a decent portrayal of Spike in a Whedonverse novel. The end played nicely, so now I'll read the rest of the book.

Soapy Comments:

DULL...er...Days of Our Serial Killings: Well, they murdered Jack. The fannish obsession of my youth just bit the dust in a singularly STUPID way. He was hit in the head with a BRICK! Gah! Reilly, really, really hates Matthew to come up with that kind of stupid ending. Then Jennifer pulled the plug on Jack about 5 minutes after he was pronounced braindead. I really didn't watch much of it. And I didn't realize until well after it aired that they had done a retrospective montage. I ended up downloading it from about.com... and damn if it didn't make me cry.

So long, Jack. I loved ya.

Matt, however, has been hired by One Life to Live However, it's just a recurring role. Basically, I think OLTL is trying to profit from the fan uproar of Matt being fired on DULL.

Did watch OLTL today. Had to laugh that Al is about to be made a corporeal non-ghost. They really are going the Heaven Can Wait route. Al is taking the place of some guy (a doctor no less. Wonder if he's going to have to get a mystical upgrade like AtS's Gunn) and it will end up being the same actor. Luna (who now appears to be an angel) was telling Al that he can never tell Marcie the truth but if they are "soulmates" that Marcie will find him. I really like the non-stereotypical MarcAl pairing. But the mention of soulmates? Blah! I've grown to loathe that term. Like the couple (basically because she's not a size two glamourpuss). Hate the soulmates stuff.

Friends with Technology Mentioned that I hadn't seen Matrix Reloaded so my friend Howard ripped and burned a Matrix Reloaded DVD for me. Haven't had a chance to watch it yet. But, hey, it's nice to get the DVD for free.

Whee! Moment: I got my Farscape Season 2 boxset! I rewatched Liars, Guns, and Money I, II, III and Die, Me, Dichotomy Sigh. I love Farscape. They bothered with those little things like continuity! I love how they brought back so many characters/species from Season 1. I'm not entirely sure that I bought all the noble deaths of former villains, but you know something? I don't care that I don't really buy it. I liked that in the Farscape-verse even one off villains can find redemption of sorts. And, not all of them got redeemed. And, of course, I loved the "You found your way into my heart"/ "You showed me that I had one" moment with Aeryn and Crichton. And ExpandRead more... )

Destiny: Amnesia
The soap gods have spoken! Amnesia is your destiny.
You're fated to forget it all, if only for a
little while. Have fun with it - give yourself
a cool name, join the circus, when people claim
to know you just look scared and suspicious.
It's the vacation of a lifetime, and in soap
operas nearly always temporary...but better be
sure it's a really, really cool name, just in
case...stay tuned!
