Hunger Games Casting (?)

Actress Jena Malone (Sucker Punch) is in the running for the pivotal role of strong-willed tribute Johanna Mason in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, EW has learned exclusively.

The character is described in author Suzanne Collins’ bestseller as possessing “a wicked ability to murder,” winning her Hunger Games by pretending to be weak and then picking off the other tributes. One open question about the character is whether director Francis Lawrence will keep Johanna’s introduction from the book, in which she first meets heroine Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) naked — save for her green slippers.

Malone began her acting career at 12 years old in the acclaimed Showtime movie Bastard out of Carolina and as a young Jodie Foster in the sci-fi drama Contact. She most recently appeared in History’s ratings-record-breaking miniseries Hatfields & McCoys.

EW also confirmed that, despite an earlier report, Mia Wasikowska has not been approached for the role of Johanna Mason, nor would be available to shoot the film.

A list of 'new' characters being cast for Season 3 "Game of Thrones":

Mance Rayder - "King Beyond the Wall"  (My heart will break a little when this isn't James Purefoy  He was totally James Purefoy in my head.)

Daario Naharis - Sellsword?  Pirate?  Don't know how to describe him other than he really had better be really damn smoking hot because otherwise, why must he exist?

Jojen & Meera Reed - Characters (kids) involved in Bran's story (that I had almost thought had been left out because they appeared in Book II)

Edmure Tully & Ser Brynden Tully - Catelyn's brother and her uncle  (rumor was ages ago that the guy who played Van Gogh in 'Doctor Who' auditioned for Edmure, and, since I've heard that, he's been Catelyn's brother in my head.  I hope he got/gets the part.  Red hair and everything!)

Lady Selyse & Shireen - Stannis' lady wife and daughter (child).  In fact, I believe Shireen has already been cast (and does look like she could be the kid of the actor playing Stannis. Though I bet they darken her hair because of the whole Baratheon/dark hair thing... or at least they should.)

Oleena Redwyne -  AKA "The Queen of Thorns".  Loras' and Margaery's grandmother (and she's awesome).

Beric Dondarrion - Yeah, I'm not explaining that one.
