Have been MIA for several days.

However, for once I can say that I actually accomplished something on the weekend.  In this case I stripped out all of the wallpaper in my kitchen, which leads me to the conclusion that I will never, ever, ever, EVER place or allow wallpaper to be placed anywhere in any home I have or may ever have in the future because it is a insane bitch to remove. Seriously, if I didn't own a clothes steamer, I think I would still be there trying to strip off that wall paper.

Plumber finally came Friday and capped the water where the old refrigerator was.  Will need to patch the concrete floor there.

Bought  paint -- Sherwin Williams'"Blonde" for the walls and "Rainwashed" for the ceiling (yeah, I'm going with a tinted ceiling.  I'm thinking it will balance the slate floor nicely). I have enough Benjamin Moore "China White" from a project a couple of years ago to take care of the trim so I'm covered there.  And my sister seems to have enough left over crown molding in her basement from her house that I may have crown molding for free.  So free = yay!

My unexpected purchase of refrigerator was supposed to be delivered today but they called saying that it hasn't been shipped so -- boo!

Decided that I don't actually need a new light fixture over the (planned) new island, so that's a little savings.

Decided that the small antique piece in my dining room (that I picked up in college) may indeed fit the new area of exposed wall in the kitchen and so I may not need to buy a new piece of furniture (that's not a stool for the island) for kitchen storage, which is nice.  Although, while looking for a piece for the kitchen last week, I saw this weathered wooden Buddha in an antique shop and the more I think about it, the more I want it to place on top of this antique piece.  The next Friday that I have off, I'll have to price it (this shop has things from the absurdly reasonable to the flat-out absurd, so I need to discover which end of the spectrum this Buddha fits.  ::fingers crossed for the absurdly reasonable because I think it would be a really cool art piece.::

Other than that, it was a beautiful weekend.  The advantage of living in the South (providing some balance for the fact that we are generally looked upon as being the ignorant assholes of the universe complete with Senators who repeatedly go on television to reinforce the image that we're the ignorant assholes of the universe) is that, though winter occurs here, it is in short spurts interrupted by what looks and feels like spring, which is to say that this weekend featured clear sunny skies and 70 degree weather causing the daffodils and the forsythia to begin to bloom.  For February, you cannot beat that.   So though I was stuck stripping wallpaper, the kitchen was sunny and the windows open, so (apart from the work) it was quite pleasant.
