Heh. I think I just got banned from a board... and it wasn't even TWOP!

Doesn't really bother me as I was just killing time that I shouldn't have been killing in the first place, but it does strike me as funny in that this is how the echo-chamber effect in fandoms is created. People on a board become convinced that their favored character/couple/storyline is the ubiquitous favorite... mainly because they ban anyone who dissents.

On one board mine is the opinion of just about the entire board. On another board, my opinion is so threatening that I must be banned (and it's the same exact opinion). Yet both boards are convinced that they are in fact the majority of the "real viewers" and that their desired outcome is direction the story is headed...even though neither board allows dissention. (Of course, I don't get banned on the board where I agree with the majority. The irony here is that the board I'm NOT banned on is TWOP.)

Which board is it so that I will not go anywhere near it?

Heh. Doubt that you would to begin with. It's the SoapCentral "All My Children" board. I had stopped posting there a year ago. This last week, when board enough I revisited and was appalled to see that there were still fans of a certin couple with an incredibly toxic and abusive history. Pointing out that said couple's history IS toxic and abusive is what got me banned (no doubt. It's possible the board is just down, but I suspect I'm banned because some of the locals were complaining about why couldn't it all be happy agreement and how dare people rain on their hopes of a reunion for their "soulmates" couple! (Despite the fact that barely a month ago the male character threatened to break the female character's jaw... they really don't like people bringing up that little fact).

Anyway, reading the posts I remembered how incredibly thin-skinned these posters were which was why I stopped posting there months ago in the first place.

I'm just amused that they banned me for pointing out an actual plot point that happened, that they know happened, and that neither they nor the characters want to see addressed.

Yeah they want to stay in their happy world where their couple rules I guess.

High fives you too!

The sad thing is that they're probably right that their couple will get together down the road. But the thing that irks me is that it will no doubt be with the female character apologizing profusely for a multitude of imagined sins whereas the male character will never, ever be sorry that he called her soulless, unloveable, and threatened to smash her face in and break her jaw.

(Sadder still is that I was a FAN of this couple a two years ago before it became verbally and emotionally abusive. That's why this week I laughed my butt off when another character beat this so-called "hero" with a big stick!)

One of J.R.'s finest moments.

Heh! JR has been on a roll, lately. Loved his "I'm drunk, but you're stupid" comments to Babe, and after JR's moment of glory someone cooked up THIS!:

Sort of. In a virtual slapping of hands in a reaching sort of way.

Ah. Gotcha.

(Funny how Post-Traumatic-Joss-Disorder effects one. I'm sure that my visceral reaction to a couple on a show I barely watch is primarily because it bears way to many resemblances to Spuffy only with the genders reversed).
