Dresden Files

Dresden Files has been cast with British Paul Blackthorne in the role.  Not really a surprise since Dresden is to begin filming in 2 weeks and JM's movie is to begin filming next week.  From the posts I've read from Butcher and the script writer, it really wasn't a matter of not wanting JM but a matter of logistics (JM not wanting to go to Toronto, timing of the filming, contract for the possible series, budget etc.).   Here's hoping that Blackthorne has the right attitude.  I'd like to see the Dresden Files done right.  Too bad JM couldn't work it in because he would have rocked in the part... but, such is life.  I'll look forward to what the Dresden Files looks like when its done.

I need to pull out my "24" Season 3 DVDs, because I don't really remember how he did on that show. I wonder if he can pull off the accent, and I'm really hoping he's got the talent and skill to carry the character. He's certainly tall enough.

Bet he's cheaper than JM as well.

I'm not disappointed much. I was expecting this as James would never have move to Toronto. Yet, something aches. :(

Paul Blackthorne was the bad guy in 24: Day 3 and the 50's TV star in Medium last season. I think he'll be ok.

When JM announced that he had taken the role in Shadow Puppets that pretty much sealed it. No way could he film both Smallville and Puppets AND Dresden, especially when the Dresden production was way over in Toronto.

Yes, Shadow Puppets was the last nail on the coffin. I hope something good comes out of that. I love Dresden books, I'll check out the show and hope it's worthy of the books.

I hope so too... though I have visions of straight to dvd.

Especially considering the title, the premise and the co-star.

The title, eh. Things get re-titled. But the co-star? Yeah, this has B-movie written all over it.

Aha! That's where I remember him from! Medium! Hmmm... he was okay, but he seems to be the sort of actor who comes across as pompous, even when he's not trying to. Not sure he's going to be able to do the sort of underlying vulnerability that Harry Dresden really needs. I guess we'll find out!
