shipperx: (Sawyer - jaw of hurt feelings)

* Okay, so when exactly is the Ana Lucia sympathy supposed to kick in? I never doubted that her killing Shannon was an accident. I always figured that the Tailies had been terrorized by The Others... but, dude, she's still bitchy in a not so endearing way.

* Interesting ambiguity in The Other telling Ana that the kids and the people who were taken were taken because they were "good."

* Preview of next week. Ana, you hurt Sayid after having hurt Sawyer (and accidentally killing Shannon) and your hope of having fandom ever accept you will pretty much be dead.

* Oh, and Mr. Eko is quite scrumptious. We can keep him.

Yeah, I never thought for an instant that the shooting was anything but accidental, but I'm with you on not having the Ana Lucia love.

But Mr. Eko can keep his shirt off and his beautiful black body on my television screen for a long time to come. :)

Yep, Mr. Eko is a keeper. The accent. The expressive eyes. His way with a stick... nice find on the other side of the island!

Ana... I'm still not sold on her. But, hey, at least she's not stupid.

I'm actually liking her alot. But I never had the hate, so maybe that's the difference. But to me, it's not only that she's had to live through such general horror, it's that she also has the burden of being responsible for Nathan's death, and had to be the one look another man in the face and kill him. And I'm not sure how one does that without shutting down. And I also thought MR did a great job in showing the sadness and frustration in the character. Like when she was confronting Goodwin, there was such a sense of "But why?" there that kind of broke my heart. And then with Desmond and the radio...again with the frustration, but even more, it was like she was sad that she just couldn't be like him anymore, hopeful over hearing someone's voice. She just can't believe there's a possibility of getting out the way the rest of them kind of still do.

See, you're right. I see all those things. And I've never had a big hate on her... but I'm still not moved to sympathy for her. I'm still two steps removed from her.

Oh well, maybe they'll eek some sympathy out of me next week.

Man, I don't think you'll ever pick up on the Ana sympathy. I think she may be a hate or love kinda character. I'm just on the other side of the fence because I was a squealing loon when I found out she was an addition to the cast.

*whispers* I'm glad they killed off Shannon. Seriously? The whole thing with her and Sayid was starting to bore me. Too nice. You see what Whedon has done to my brain?!? *lays head on desk and laments*

Oh, I hated Shannon and was wishing for her death from the pilot.

And I wasn't set against Ana Lucia. In fact, on priciple I really, really wanted to like her (just because she had the Kate/Jack shippers going batshit and that's always a good thing. So, in concept I was going into the season intending to like her. It's just that in execution?

I understand WHY she does what she does, and I cannot even come up with a coherent reason why she isn't right in all of it... but it hasn't endeared her to me. As much as I understand, I've yet to grow to like.

But, hey, I'm slow about that sometimes. In the Pilot, I HATED Sawyer and liked Jack and that did a 180 somewhere in the season so anything is possible. Just so far? Ana-Lucia = meh for me.

I actually like her. But why I like her and I don't like Buffy is a mystery to me... Maybe I just don't like SMG and I find this actress likable...

I don't have any real issues with the actress so far. And as much as I've yet to feel the love for the character, she's put more work into making Ana Lucia expressive and understandable than SMG did for the last few seasons of BtVS.

For some reason what bugged me the most was the implausibility of Ana leisurely sitting and chatting with the equally mellow little girl whom she'd just performed CPR on, while all around them people were drowning and running around screaming in agony and practically on fire.
