Sometimes I Forget to Hate TWOP

Sometimes, often lately, I forget to hate TWOP, mainly because I hang out in a nice secluded corner of the board, a corner that more or less goes unmonitored. It's just a fun little thread that's left to the thread's own devices.

Anyway, while reading Season 1 Project Runway recaps (and I discovered that I rather hate Miss Alley's recaps in comparison to the regular recapper. She's not nearly as funny or witty as she thinks) I actually read the tagline for the message boards:

"Would you say James Marsters has been a good addition to Smallville as Brainiac, or has he ruined the show like he did Angel?"

Err...okay, let me see. How do I feel about that tagline? Let's see...

Screw you, TWOP! Oh, and yeah... screw you again. JM "ruined" AtS? On WHAT FREAKING PLANET?! You deluded, deluded assholes.

(Hmm...Turns out, I still have some TWOP indignation in me.)

They're bitter because that's so not even an issue. The Smallville forums love James, nothing but gushing. Ratings are taking an up-turn.

Suddenly it's a topic for discussion over whether he helped or ruined Smallville? As if!

Hello Lisa, I found your journal through a friend of a friend, and I believe this is my first time commenting here... while I rarely visit TWoP any more, it still burns me when I come across examples of their arrogance, such as the one you've cited.

It often seems as though the recappers have built a huge edifice of delusion around the idea that JM ruins everything he touches... the ratings and critical acclaim for Angel went up when JM was added to the cast, but this makes no impression on their thinking.

It cheers me, though, that there are (at least) a couple of forums devoted to criticism of TWoP: TWoP Criticism and Commentary (http://www.journalfen.net/community/twop_crit) (a sister community of Fandom Wank) and the more bluntly named TWoP Sucks (http://twopsucks.12.forumer.com/login.php?redirect=viewforum.php&f=3&start=0&sid=1655a9da1bec6c47b41c2d1131c0bbb1). Despite the name, TWoP Sucks has a generally more reasonable tone and more constructive criticism.

Much of the discussion at the latter concerns reality shows, which I don't watch, but it might interest you since you're a TAR watcher.
