Voiceless II

Well, I thought I was voiceless yesterday... until I woke up this morning and discovered that now even a tiny whisper is difficult and sometimes impossible. I mostly just squeak. Doctor advised silence, so I'm staying home from work today and no longer even trying to speak.

I've been going for hot apple cider. I think I'm going to try hot lemonade with honey next.

Well, I've had my fair share of them now. My voice is better though (in at least it exists again.)

It's actually very soothing. Hot liquids are always nice when you're sick, and the honey smooths out the acid from the citrus.

Why it always served with a cinnamon stick I don't know. My mother and the food writer Laurie Colwin are the only people I know that do it like that.

The cinnamon stick was a nice addition. (I also added crystalized ginger).
