Oh dear god, I have been sick in the last 20 hours. On a misery index of 0 = fine and 10 = kill me now. PLEASE! I'm begging! I've been somewhere around a 9. At first, I thought it was food poisoning, but my parents ate everything I ate yesterday, and I'm the only person who has been sick. I guess it's some spectacularly awful stomach virus. My mom's next door neighbor said she'd had something similar last week, so I guess it is a virus.

I was feeling unwell last night when I left my parents house. When my mom called my house to make sure that I had made it home okay, I was pretty much incoherent in misery when I answered the phone. She came over to hold back my hair. (Poor woman didn't get any sleep last night. Not to go into the gory details but from midnight to around 4:30am I was VIOLENTLY ill. It's been awful. By about noon today I was at last able to sleep. I've slept a few hours, drunk a Sprite and some Pedialite (which really doesn't taste very good but it is supposed to help your electrolytes get back to normal and to prevent dehydration) and had a shower. I'm at last able to think of (extremely bland) food without turning green, though I've limited myself to eating a couple of gingersnaps and drinking Sprite and Pedialite.) The ache in my bones has mostly gone away (though not completely... and largely because I took one my my mom's prescription pain killers. My sister (the MD) said it would be okay. It's nothing but prescription strength Advil). And the cold sweat and icy chills also seem to have disappeared (thank god). Hopefully, I will continue to improve quickly, becuase I don't think I could make it through another night like the last one. It was terrible.

Thanks.

I still can't eat much and still didn't make it to work today, but in general I'm feeling far better.

Thanks. I'm feeling better. Not well, but I can manage to eat a little now and the headache has mostly gone away. I'm on my way to well.

Ooh, yes, our family went through that. (Took two kids to the emergency room in my car, so you can imagine the fun of that---my car will never be the same)

Anyway, what a great mom you have to be there for you. Sounds like mine. (YAY for great moms)

Glad you are able to post and the worst seems to be over.

Boy, I can't imagine how scary it would be to watch a child go through this. The danger of dehydration would be very real with a small child.

And thankfully, it is getting better. I was able to drink clear liquids yesterday and I've managed to keep down some chicken broth today.

Did you go to the doctor? The anti nausea stuff helped everyone immensely.

By morning I was through most of the purging phase so by then it was a little late for that (other than kaopectate) though around 3am I was considering it. My mom did call my sister about it and all the pharmacies near me were closed at that time of night. Anyway, ultimately, there's not much anyone can do for stomach flu but treat the symptoms and as that one had (mostly) passed by morning, I was just trying to stay hydrated.

And there's nothing like barfing constantly while sitting in an Emergency room. But, we had a two year old and four year old, and it was essential. I REALLY know what you were going through and it's HORRIBLE. Big hugs.

Absolutely! A little one can dehydrate so easily and that's the primary danger with it. The symptoms will pass (horrifically slowly but they will pass) but dehydration can be dangerous. Gor little ones the ER really is the best course of action because dehydration can be dangerous.

Thanks for the sympathy.

Yeah. I'm improving. The headache has mostly gone and I slept through the night last night. And I managed to keep down some chicken broth for dinner tonight, so the worst is over.

Thanks. I'm feeling better today. Not well yet but I was able to sleep and I actually managed to have a little broth for dinner and it not make me ill. The worst seems to be over.

Just remember small sips and bites. Don't overdo, sure way to make yourself sick again.

Get better, I hope that weather is good so you can go out and sit in the sun. I don't know if its the Vitamin D, but that always helps me.

It was mostly cloudy today. I did open all the blinds in my study and slept off and on in the chair (makes me feel better than just staying in bed). And I managed to have some chicken broth for dinner.

Thanks.

Seriously, I wouldn't wish this on ANYONE. And I'm hoping that my Mom won't come down with it (though god knows she's been exposed) because I really would hate to see her in that much misery because -- God, I don't think I can adequately describe how horrible this bug made me feel.

I am better today. I actually slept through the night last night, woke up this morning and could THINK (which is way better than 90% of yesterday). My headache is mostly gone, and I managed to keep down some chicken broth this evening. So, I appear to be on the mend.

Thanks.
