Life of Me and Sunday TV
Apr. 13th, 2015 07:03 pmSo tired.
So very, very tired.
Worked late every night last week desperately trying to make a deadline, trying to complete a project to my own satisfaction, and trying to make a good impression on my new job. I finally got it out, but I still have my fair share of headbanging frustration with Revit (it can do a lot of things quickly, but it's doing them fairly simply so when you want to do things in great detail it's actually unnecessarily difficult. However, the real drawback to it ramping things up quickly is that it's entirely to easy to really screw things up at the drop of a hat too (which I did do at one point). I'm.. still an AutoCad girl. But, I do know more about Revit.
At any rate, it was a very tiring week, plus ALLERGIES kicked in so by Friday I was borderline sick and exhausted. This weekend continued that as I had been too keyed up to sleep well Thursday and Friday so by Saturday I was still exhausted and couldn't sleep, and then Mom saves up all the stuff she can't do on her own during the week, and I end up with a "to do" list from hell. Which was exacerbated by the aforementioned cold/allergies, and work exhaustion, so it didn't feel like I got much rest this weekend either.
So... still exhausted. But, at least today wasn't stressful, which makes it a step in the right direction.
Onto TV:
Once Upon a Time is back, and this week it was Robin Hood and Maid Marion-centric. How the heck THAT got involved with "Wizard of Oz" is...well, Once strange. But, it turns out, that Marion has indeed been dead for a very long time and the Marion in Storybrooke is the so-not-dead "Wicked Witch" in disguise, thus setting the stage for the eventual, inevitable Robin/Regina reunion... which I am perfectly okay with. However, I know that anything that hints at Regina redemption or Regina happiness will bring out the seething bile of hatred on Previously TV's boards. One thing I don't, buy, though is that Rumple would ever work with the Wicked Witch. Now, Rumple himself is selfish and morally reprehensible, so it's not ethics which would prevent him, but I simply do not buy that Rumple would ever do anything for Zelena except want her dead 1) because she enslaved him last year 2) because of the way the Oz-plot was combined with Baelfire/Neal/Rumpy's son's death. If Zelena thinks Rumpy would allow her a happy ending, she more dumb that a bag of rocks.
Mad Men is ending and I'm so over Don's thing for random sex-ups, and the downright creepy thing he's got going with the waitress. It was so weird the waitress showing up at the different restaurant that I wondered whether it was a dream. And then the Megan plot. Harry's a pig (Joan would nod and agree) so I felt for Megan in that. And, yes, Don is a manwhore of a husband and a truly terrible husband. That said, it takes a lot of blind self-denial for her to claim that marrying Don "ruined her life". Hey, yeah, he's a sucky husband. But she was a secretary that got bumped up to copywriter because the boss had a thing for her. Then he supported her while she played at having an acting career for years. And supported her while she, by herself, lived in California. And it wasn't as though he dumped her. It was more like she dumped him (not without cause, but still, in the grand scheme of things, she called it quits. It was the right decision, but all in all, it's hard for me to see her as THAT hard done by. She knew he was a manwhore when she married him. He was cheating on his girlfriend when he first boffed her. Guess she thought he would "change". And, again, yeah, he sucks as a husband. But he didn't actually do much that damaged her life and supported her in a lavish lifestyle the entire time, so I just think she could reduce the accusation that he "ruined her life." Just sayin' That said, I am so ready for the Don/Dour Waitress thing to be over. Betty looked gorgeous this week though.
GOT returns! So we're all the way in "Dances with Dragons" material here. Actually, was there much "A Feast for Crows" stuff in this week at all? The Brienne scene maybe. And the Cersei/Jaime scene (Oh and LOL! Loved Lancel showing up at the funeral). And I guess Sansa/Littlefinger might count (though it'ts totally off book). Though I laughed my butt off at "Sweet Robin" having to learn how to sword fight. Poor overly breast-fed kiddo. He isn't prepared to be trained as a Knight. Show-wise they're dumping Robin off there, which furthers the "Sansa's story is totally off-book" this year because I didn't get the feeling we'd be seeing Robin often any time soon. And I do believe this is the prettiest that Loras has ever been(and lets get a little hand for equal opportunity nudity. There were man-butts on display this week. Most of the episode seemed firmly in "Dance" territory. And... am I forgetting Daario stuff. (which would be easy because Daario annoyed the pee out of me in the book and I had a way of skipping Dany/Daario stuff) but was Daario telling Dany his background the most info we've ever gotten on Daario? Book or Show? I have no memory of that back story from the books. And I don't know how real said back story was. While it may be a way of establishing Daario a bit more, it could also be a matter of Daario working Dany, because his history did dovetail into something she'd fine appealing. So... I don't know. But he can show his butt cheeks if he wants. In the book, we only got Dany sighing over them, which was annoying. I'm willing to cut more slack when we get to enjoy the view as well.
Some departures from the book Tyrion (thank god) never once asked "Where do whores go?" And he never thought about going to Dorne trying to place Myrcella on the Iron Throne (in the book I always liked the bit with Illyrio asking whether Tyrion also hated his niece and Tyrion then having to admit he liked his niece too much to see her installed on the Throne and THEN his agreeing on the "let's go meet Dany" quest. I'm fine with Vary's taking Illyrio's place in this as well. Speaking of place swaps... I have the feeling that there was no character swap in Mance's death. I think that this time Mance is really most sincerely dead. If they need someone to do the rest of Mance's plot (which is iffy since we don't know whether that plot will appear at all) it would make perfect sense for Tormund to do it, so if Mance's death is a departure, it's one that I can live with. I think overall it works.
And... that's about it. Time to go walk the dog between rain storms (I swear, if we get 2 days of sun the following 10 days will be rain. Everything is very green... and very wet.)
