ABC Welcomes 'Buffy' Scribe to the Family
Noxon will executive produce pilot 'Brothers & Sisters'
April 13 2006
LOS ANGELES -- Marti Noxon, a former writer and executive producer of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," is setting down stakes at a new home.
Noxon, who's currently serving as a consulting producer on FOX's "Prison Break," has signed a two-year deal with Touchstone TV. As part of the agreement, she'll become an executive producer of ABC's drama pilot "Brothers & Sisters," the showbiz trade papers report.
Should "Brothers & Sisters," a family soap starring Calista Flockhart ("Ally McBeal"), Rachel Griffiths ("Six Feet Under") and Balthazar Getty ("Alias"), make it onto ABC's schedule next season, Noxon would become its showrunner. Writer Jon Robin Baitz and director Ken Olin are also executive producers.
Baitz, a playwright ("The Substance of Fire"), has written episodes of "Alias" and "The West Wing" but hasn't had experience running a series. Noxon has, having served as showrunner on "Buffy" and the short-lived FOX show "Point Pleasant," which she created.
She's also written for "Buffy" spinoff "Angel" and created "Still Life," which FOX picked up in 2003 but never aired.
Her new deal also calls for Noxon to create other projects for Touchstone. Citing a case of "vampire fatigue," she says she'll be sticking to reality-based scripts for the time being.

Date: 2006-04-13 10:49 pm (UTC)Well, there's a conglomeration of people I'd rather shoot myself than watch. Good Lord. I hope ABC realizes this series has "dog" written all over it.
And who the hell keeps giving Noxious jobs anyway? Her photo collection of folks in bed with dead women/live boys must be fearsome indeed.

Date: 2006-04-14 02:25 pm (UTC)My thoughts were something along the line of "ABC, dudes! You've created a monster! Unmake it! Unmake it!"
And yes, Noxious must have a stash of incriminating photos stashed in a safe deposit box somewhere, because people continuing to hire her to exec produce boggles the mind.

Date: 2006-04-13 10:54 pm (UTC)I've long since made a mental note to avoid anything for which Suicide Girl is writer, producer, showrunner or go-fer. In my little world, I call this "Quality Control."

Date: 2006-04-14 07:35 pm (UTC)And the thing is, what they need to work on is their sitcoms. Marti just doesn't strike me as a sitcom girl.
