Sister Housing Woes Update
May. 10th, 2006 01:47 pmWell, my sister is a few days closer to being houseless. Both homes that they offered for wouldn't accept B.I.L.'s lowball price. Now they're looking at another condo in the same complex and ready for the last ditch effort of the house in my mother's subdivision (But honestly, they're leaving the poor guy with appx. 2 weeks to find a new place, move, and close the sale. That's asking a LOT!)

Part of the problem is finding a 4 bedroom house for the price they want (because they want to use the rest of the money to pay off the beach house and finance the house they want to build.) But, because of the sale of their home, they have the cash to pay up front on a new house... if they could just find one that meets all of their criteria (which after scouring RealtySouth.com last night, I can safely pronounce doesn't exist. Either it's in an area of town where they don't want to go, too old, or too expensive. One of the better options is the house in my mother's neighborhood but it IS a little small for them. They did find another condo almost exactly like the one they offered for with a slightly lower price, the question will be the condition of that condo because of my mom, my sister, and myself, I'm far and away the most flexible and accepting of stuff. If it's not like my sister would like she'd set about immediately renovating it which will run up the price.
We'll see.
But to answer your question, no, they couldn't move in with me. (Though my parents did for three months). I only have one spare bedroom with a single bed and even if Jonathan doesn't return from college until June that still leaves my sister, B.I.L., preteen neice, teen nephew, their dog and their cat. My house would explode.
