Oh well. I'm spamming anyway.

Was bored and hot (it's in the mid to high 90s these days) so dropped by The Fresh Market to pick up a salad for dinner and since I'm out of Diet Sprite at home (I freaking live off of Diet Sprite), and Fresh Market it too snooty to carry much in the way of regular old soft drinks (The Fresh Market has fantastic sushi, wonderful coffee, and a fantastic array of nuts... but damn few Coca-Cola products.) Anyway, looking for a Diet Sprite substitute, I picked up a bottle of something I had never tried before Blenheim Diet Ginger Ale and... DUDE! It is freaking HOTTTTTTTT. I mean, take your breath away and make you sneeze hot. And I know hot as I tend to eat insanely hot Mexican food at least once a week. This is hot. I've never had spicy-hot ginger ale. You definitely have no trouble figuring out that it was made from ginger.

Ah, yes, Blenheim. I've experienced the total mouth burn of that before. Did you have the "regular" or the "hot" kind? Because even the regular is waaaaaaay too freaking hot for me! I love ginger, but real ginger ale? Can't do it.

Oh, I LOVE that stuff. BUt you have to sip it slowly or it blows off the top of your head.

That just sounds... well, nasty. I'm sure it's an acquired taste :) I'll stick to sweet beverages!

It was...I don't know. It wasn't nasty, but I don't know that I would ever make it a regular drink of mine. That said, I definitely plan to subject some other people to is just to see their reactions when they take the first swig!

I would kill to find a ginger ale that tastes like Canada Dry used to back when it was sweetened with sugar rather than corn syrup, and was actually, you know, dry. All the ginger ales I've tried recently are either too sweet or super-hot (there's a Jamaican brand that will peel your tongue.)

This Blenheim must be kind of like that Jamaican.

And the best ginger ale I ever had was Magic City Brewery's. They made it in in the pub. Unfortunately it went out of business a few years ago.

I've moved exclusively over the ginger beer and have found now that regular old ginger ale tastes pretty icky. Thankfully, one of our local grocery stores carries Cock 'n' Bull Ginger Beer, and Cost Plus World Market has a pretty good deal on Bundaberg Ginger Beer. Both are made with real ginger and real sugar... yummy!
