Weird Thing to Note in Re-Watching the Spike/Angel fight

You know, ME are just weird. I think sometimes they don't even
watch their own show or they just like to forget stuff.

But Angel's lines to Spike over the grail thingie are pretty
laughable. Angel saying to Spike that the whole shanshu thing is a
cross and that it will burn you to ashes, and Angel should know.
He's been carrying it.

Er... excuse me. But the only souled vampire I've seen who was
crucified and who HAS burned to ashes is SPIKE not Angel. Angel,
if you want to know what it feels like to burn to ashes, ask the guy
who HAS!


(Yeah, yeah, Mutant Enemy. I know it's Angel's side I'm SUPPOSED to be taking and blahdi-blah-blah-blah Angel is the one twu champion and whatever. But you know, when trying to get their dubious points across, it would help if ME actually managed to keep up with their own history.)

Sweetie, you're missing the point. In what passes for Fury's mind, existential angst is much more painful that actually being incinerated. Plus, don't forget that this season, Spike is Angel's widdle baby bwutha. That means he's got to fall into all the same traps that Angel fell into (working for the shanshu instead of just doing good for the selfless purity of doing good) so that in the finale, Spike can admit he's been a jerk and learn the same lesson that Angel learn two seasons ago. It's Must See TV (Repeat-O-Vision).

the grail thingie

I was reminded of a comment from Dru, courtesy of ludditerobot:

"The King of Cups expects a picnic; but today is not his birthday", said directly after Darla observes, "I think our boys are going to fi-i-ght".

Dru is once again scary prescient, because many years down the road, here's the fighting, and here's the cup that doesn't really carry a gift/burden.

And...ooo! I'm having a thought. Yes, definitely, a thought, about the fanged four and tarot suits. Hmn. There's an essay in there, somewhere.
