shipperx: (No soup for you)

gakked from [personal profile] spikewriter (her words) :

Sam Rubin just reported on the KTLA Morning News that there's been an upset at the new show Callista Flockhart is doing for ABC. Called Brothers and Sisters, it seems that Ken Olin, the show's creator, wasn't getting along with Marti Noxon, the show runner, and yesterday she left the show.

I'm sure everyone on my friends list is appropriately shocked and upset.

You were literally the first person that popped in my head when I read about Marti. Knew you would enjoy it.

But really - the show's creator has his wife as one of the stars, his son is one of the writers; and somehow Marti thought she was going to have it running her way?

Yeah, right, that works.

::Marti Speak:: "But what's wrong with Calista being hypocritical? It endears her to the audience. And let's villify male sexuality. How do you feel about male castration? And you know what else is good? DEPRESSION! That's Must-See-TV right there. I can bring whips and chains and unceasing angst. It'll be awesome!"

You know, I thought the same thing. I swear I could hear ShipperX laughing her ass off from here.

That show sounds like it's well on its way to trainwreck status even without Marti.

I do wonder to what extent the people in Hollywood who actually hire producers and showrunners are aware of how they are perceived by the fans (and of whether the fans' perceptions may actually have merit).

Good question, and hard to say. Most producers seem to live in a bubble regarding fans, so I don't tend to think they realize their reputations. And, honestly, not all producers have reputations. Something like BtVS/AtS where there was such a close association of TPTB and the fans is something of a rarity. Certainly VM's Rob Thomas, the folks aligned with Chris Carter and the X-Files, and Milch of Deadwood became well known to fans, but if you asked me who produced 2/3 of the shows that I watch, I wouldn't have a clue.

That said, Marti managed to make her name synonamous with mud with 99% of the BtVS fandom (no matter who you shipped) so she, perhaps, has an inkling that she's unpopular (though I wouldn't guarentee it).

Joins in the snickering.

With deep happiness that the actor that played Crazy Uncle Arvin Alias is safe from the mad bitch.

Just keep her away from the hot oil fryer. Oh, and the grill. And the... You know, maybe just keep her away. Period.

I dunno. As a showrunner she might just possibly make a halfway adequate burger-flipper, you know, if she works at it.

Can I remind you of a little symbollic penis-ectomy episode called "Doublemeat Palace?" Maybe she'd be better suited to something where sharp implements weren't readily available.

Gee, maybe the creator didn't want to go for the rape storyline...

You might not be snickering...much, but I'm laughing my ass off.

What, Brothers and Sisters didn't want some lame ass rape storyline or something equally heinous?

Hee! Michael Steadman slaps down the Noxious One. I guess she found out that not all people are as gullible/stroke-able/idiotic as Whedon.

This amuses me to no end. Way to go, Ken!

Actually the LA Times says it was Jon Robin Baitz who canned her ass forced her to quit, but hey -- who cares? Not-so-instant karma got Noxon. Woot.

Just one more sign of how incompetent Smartie Noxious REALLY is a totally incompetent bitch.

This has totally made my day. I was so very pissed that she had been given another opportunity to destroy more lives. And now she's not. Yeay!

I was so upset that I had to go back and re-read my reviews of Point Pleasant to remind myself what a fabulous show runner she is. =D

bwahahaaaa! Eeeeeeeee! Wooooo-haaaaa...*chokes*

I don't know why the Ken Olin part makes it a bazillion times more enjoyable, but it does. Hope it was him that gave her the boot.
I wonder if she wanted to add a raving eating disorder into the plot? Hmmm...
