So we all know that TWOP fostered(fosters) an amazing amount of virulent Spike hate in the BtVS forum and has for years upon years upon years. I don't bother with the TWOP BtVS/AtS boards because crazies post there but I do hang out on a couple of other threads on TWOP. Anyway, it never fails to cheer me up and make me giggle when some errant TWOP poster gets their panties in a twist because "All My Children's" Kendal Hart (yes, the character once played by Sarah Michelle Gellar) named her son "Spike". There are a few who have been bitching for months now that they need to give that baby a real name (and bitching that it brings up memories of BtVS Spike.) And now they're bitching because there's some kerfuffle somewhere going on that "Spike's" real (baby) name is (or may be, or is suggested to be. I don't know the details) ... you guessed it -- William.

I've stopped watching AMC months ago because it's just so damn boring, so I don't know if "Kendal" ever has changed the name of the kid from Spike (I was under the impression that the baby's "real" name is Spike. So I'm not sure what generated the whole thing about William. But, while surfing, I ran across a TWOP/AMC poster bitching about the tiny tot being named "Spike" and how that would be totally compounded and even WORSE if they also name the kid William.

I laughed and laughed.

That is funny. I haven't watched AMC since like March or something. I'm totally out of it. I assume this is the stolen-Ryan-sperm baby?

Yeah, it's the stolen-sperm-baby.

Not sure why she (or rather. the writers) decided to name it Spike, but when certain TWOP posters bitch about the Spike thing and it's connection to SMG, it amuses the hell out of me.

Oh, dude, that is all sorts of hysterical.

Nope, the kid is Spike

I like to pretend it's a nod to Buffy, but MMT isn't the smartest gal around, so... I would invited to hang out with the rest of us disenfranchsed ex-TWOP-AMCers, cause bitching about Krustal, Boob and what the hell did they do to Dixie and her hair is the kind of fun that should be shared with others. The L&B board (lbboard.com) cracks me up.

That is pretty funny. Imagine using up so much energy hating a TV character. They really are crazy.

Now that is hilarious, Spike hater heads must be exploding all over the U.S. And somebody on that writing staff must be a BtVS fan.

The fervor that TWP had against Spike fans was always a bit creepy; but that there are people all these years after the show is over still holding this grudge? That's verging on the pathological.

Hee! It's not just on the Buffy forum either. At Doctor Who forums, someone referred to teenage girls liking the awful Spuffy, and I had an "excuse me?" moment :P

Because Spuffy destroyed all of television! We must always keep that in mine. It's evil and yukky and...well... kinda pretty, actually. :)

Ah, the craziness of TWoP never ceases to amuse. While I read the recaps of Survivor, The Amazing Race, and America's Next Top Model, I continue to avoid the forums like they're handing out smallpox infested blankets over there. :D

The only forums that I've discovered, there, which don't suck the joy out of watching the shows are the AMC and Days threads. I put that down to the subject material being so ludicrously awful that no one can take any of it the least bit seriously so it lacks the bitterness and meaness which infects the other forums. There it's just loopy fun. Samples:

Quote:
The Time Travel machine was still working: Lucas mentioned in his heartfelt plea to the imaginary kidnappers that Will had done really well on his math test. Since Will vanished before he got to school on the first day , did a hologram take the test?

Quote:
Non sequitor here, but does anyone else find the Hypothermia!Sex thing between Shawn and Belle unreasonably funny? I giggle meanly every time Belle has to explain, once again (especially to a parental figure), that she didn't THINK there was any sex with Shawn, but come to think of it, they both had hypothermia that one time and woke up stark naked in a barn...

Quote:
Okay, I just rewound and watched Carrie say, “I’m a slut,” over and over again. It was awesome. I loved all the bashing that Lucas piled on her, and what she piled onto herself. Every time the word “again” is used in conjunction with her, I squeal with glee.
Carrie: What Sami said is true. I am a slut.
Austin: Now, now. She never said you were a slut. She said you’re a dirty whore.

I don't even watch the show, and haven't in years. But the boards for Days have a tendency to be hilarious fun because everyone quit giving a damn a decade ago

Hee! I think that's about the last time I really watched Days. I'm going to have to check those forums out the next time I need a good laugh.

That's what I use it for. The TWOP Days thread is always good for a few good natured, snarky chuckles. (Except the Steve/Kayla fans who have suddenly returned to the show after 15 years haven't yet clued in that to take this show the least bit seriously is to set yourself up for great disappointment. I'm hoping the more earnest of them wander away to other boards because the usual atmosphere on the TWOP Days thread isn't to take the show seriously at all, and I like it that way.
