While watching Dracula, I concluded...  William the Bloody and Angelus totally would have kicked his ass.  (And what's with Dracula being the geek from Dr. Who?)

I haven't watched it yet, but he's the cool Cockney con man from HUSTLE. ;)

That...really wasn't that good. I liked the syphilis angle, but it felt like something that should have been twice as long condensed and edited all over the place.

Yeah, I've got to agree. I had read about the syphilis angle and that was one reason I watched. I thought it might be interesting. And I was even kind of interested with the way that they were underplaying the whole "gothic horror" bit, but ultimately, the editing was awful, the script weak, and the character development almost non-existent.

I have to bail until Saturday AM for this because I was busy taping Rome & Dresden Files. The reviews weren't too encouraging so I didn't feel all that bad about it.

Don't feel bad. It's good for some snarking (as I kept thinking that Angelus and WtB were wandering the city and laughing at Dracula) but it's not actually good at all. It could have been better, but that would have meant a better script and thematic direction.

Worst. Adaptation. Ever. (Well, except for the Mel Brooks version. And the George Harrison as Dracula version. No wait, that one was better then this version too.)

The lead guy is a good actor but was hopelessly miscast. At least as Mr. Teatime from Hogfather, he was slightly menacing (but still hugely miscast - rather like watching a child dress up in Mommy's clothes and pretend to be a big bad grownup.) But the highlight of this Dracula for me was the way, everytime some busty young virgin would mention some fleeting imagined death wish, he'd perk up as if about to say "Really? You have a death wish? I could help with that, you know."
