Rome Finale
Mar. 25th, 2007 09:15 pmSo it was sort of Atia triumphant and Atia in tragedy there at the end, which, considering how strong a character she was in the series was rather appropriate. Loved Atia's set-down of Livia.
And the Antony/Cleopatra parts seemed to be in the spirit of actual history (though a bit dodgy on the details), but I think it did a pretty good job of portraying them and the final days (although, nitpick. Wasn't it Octavian who styled himself as "Apollo"? Antony saw himself as Dionysus and I thought it was supposed to be Isis and Dionysus not Isis and Apollo.)
And, alas, poor Vorenus. Knew he was doomed last week when he said that he had a cancer in his soul that would torture him until he was dead. That pretty much sealed Vorenus's fate. I am glad that he reconciled with Vorena the Elder before his death. And of course, Pullo pulls through at the end, Cesarian is rescued from his historical fate, and I'm announcing right now:
I'm totally fanwanking that Pullo marries Vorena and they live reasonably happily for a very long time!

Date: 2007-03-26 03:43 am (UTC)You know, I totally did too up until this episode. Now he just sort of seems like her real dad, so the idea is a little squicky to me now. But it is a natural progression, actually.
I'm so sorry this show is over.

Date: 2007-03-26 01:26 pm (UTC)I knew that Pullo would keep him alive until they could reach Rome but I wasn't sure if they'd allow the children to reconcile with him and was glad that they did. And since he told Antony that he believes in the afterlife I'm sure he was glad to go and be reunited with Niobe.
And adored the last line of the series "About your Father".
