The Tudors
Apr. 8th, 2007 11:17 pmOkay, over at my mother's for Easter dinner and her FauxVo has flipped out in that "oh I wish it could happen to me!" way of suddenly she has every premium channel. So, taking advantage, I went to the OnDemand and watched the first episode of "The Tudors" and kind of disliked it a lot. I can live with historical inacuracy, but does it have to be quite so in-your-face about it? I swear all these castles look both warm and clean. The streets look clean. The hair looks clean with 2007 haircuts and hair coloring. The makeup on the women is impeccable. Really, can't they make just a little effort to make the historical look historical? Just a tiny bit? That, and the plot didn't seem that interesting to me, albeit Henry VIII seemed just as much a jackass as one would suspect. Rome was as historically hinky as you could get, but it was interesting. This one... not so much. (And I'm someone who loves yearing Tudor history by historians so I have a pretty high standard before calling something boring).

Still haven't seen "Rome," but I plan to. Everyone's gushing is making me feel bad to be left out. ;)
