Veronica Mars Finale

So, first off, I've always heard that "Veronica Mars is smart and hip and wonderful and everyone should love this series." However, to be honest, I've never seen the overwhelming awesomeness. I respect many people who have loved the series, but I've always been on the "eh. Really don't see what's so all-fired great" end of the spectrum.

Anyway, series finale tonight and... is that all? Even as a non-fan who watched every now and then, that seemed to be sort of an open-ended ending that didn't leave much in the way of gratification.

I'm not looking down. I know I enjoy some shows that are decidedly dippy and the reasoning behind the love is 'just cause'. I realize that I live in a glass house and won't throw stones. Condolences to the people who are mourning the loss of the show. Look at it this way, sometimes fanfic can deliver more of what you want. (Works for me with the Buffy fandom).

well, it wasn't written as a series finale - it was just supposed to be the season finale. And it ended on a sort of fittingly down note, I felt, in some ways - Veronica realizes that her blind quest for vengeance against the guys who humiliated her has cost her father the sherriff's race at best, and possibly is going to end up with him in jail... I liked it.

But then again, I'm not one of the "THIS WAS THE BEST SHOW EVER" people either :P

As someone who only watched the first season, I'll say that I thought this finale was *vastly* superior to that one. VM finales have a habit of throwing everything at the wall and hoping something sticks. This one had a certain focus and sense of purpose. I'm not saying it was fabulous or that it would make my Top 20 greatest series finales. But I at least felt like this was the show RT wanted to write, rather than what he felt obligated to write.

I've only ever watched one episode all the way through of VM... so, hey! That show has finished already????
