Warning:  Link to HP splooge over the  'forgery' / leaked copy of HP:DH  follows.   I didn't see substantial spoilage in the thread when I read it (mostly rampant batshit and a violation of Godwin's Law).  I did see one small spoiler --perhaps vague without context -- but this is a link to a spoiler site.  If you are spoiler phobic it's not a place you want to go.  High probability of  inadvertant spoilage.  Also, don't let the fact that people are wanking influence you in regards to expectations about the book..  This wankery is totally disassociated from any reasonable (i.e. not insane) reaction to the novel.

Oh my.  The batshit runs strong with this one

I... I don't know what to say...  Other than to point and laugh, shake my head, and say "HP fen, you so crazy."

(And to put to rest any temptation any spoiler phobe might have.  I'm not linking for spoilage, so if you're itching in anticipation this isn't a link to anything you'd be dying to know.  Don't feel like it's something tasty just out of reach. The link is for laughing at fan_wankery.    Little to no spoilage is actually contained in the thread.  It's just astounding insanity that's completely disassociated from reality and does not accurately reflect what is contained in the online copy, only the unhinged delusions of certain wackier fans.  It is a spoiler site, though, so inadvertant spoiling is probably likely. )

The funnier threads are the "Real/Fake" arguments, complete with scans and blowups and diagrams. Those started the night before last and were much fun; they're how I came to dl the book in the first place. Was all "Hmm. Lemme look at that..." But the die-hard deniers, and the true believers, with all their longwinded nasty "I'm RIGHT because-" posts, are both jointly delusional and weird.

And very entertaining.

So sorry for intruding, I wandered over here via a friend's journal. I have also been amused by the Carpet Leak but most importantly - your icon is hilarious. I looked in your user info but can't seem to find that user on journal fen. Are you able to give me the link because I'd love to use it to .... or at least refer to it :) Thanks heaps in advance

I'm afraid that I lost the link some time ago. When I couldn't go back and find it, I copied the pic from someone using it, and attributed it to the same person that they attributed it to.

I do remember that it was posted to share... but for I cannot remember where. I must have picked it up from the comments in Fandom_Wank.

Blame my lousy typing skills, or the pinched nerve in my elbow whick makes my already lousy typing skills even worse than usual.

It was a typo.

It's lavenderfrost@JF

Came here from [livejournal.com profile] ww1614.

Oh dear. 'Hilter?' At least spell the name correctly, oh Godwin's-Law Invokers.

Misspelling "Hitler" made the wank all the more hilarious.

OK, maybe I'm terribly naive; but I honestly thought the poster who said it was worse than "Hilter" was being sarcastic. Hence the misspelling.

Hyperbolic? Perhaps. But in the rest of the thread (and in other threads) the person is seriously hacked off. So, I'm thinking the outrage and disgust is genuine (if delusional).

He or she did have a Delirium icon, so that could explain it.

Because writing a book is totally equivalent to murdering millions of people!

You know, fandom in general owes HP fandom a great debt. Because the rest of us, when our fandom blows up over some shipping war, or slash, or some such, and we think - "I'm in the craziest fandom ever!" - we can stop, remember this, and think - "No, craziest fandom ever is now, and ever will be Harry Potter".

How can the fandom that produced MsScribe not be the craziest fandom of all?

Gotta hand them this one, though. They are entertaining in their batshittery. (Although I find the poster linked on HP_Cornfield calling for a mass suicide pact to be disturbing. Not serious, but disturbing nonetheless.)

MsScribe story = one of the most entertaining things I've read in years.

*sigh* good times...

Yes. The MsScribe story is a classic.

However, watching the people over on [livejournal.com profile] its_a_fake doing Olympic level mental gymnastics to convince themselves that the online copy of the book is a fake is pretty darn enjoyable in its own right. Those people lost grip with reality about a dozen train-stops ago.

JKR, you are worse than HILTER. Haha, that's so awesome.

Totally.

Does Godwin's Law still apply when you can't spell Hitler correctly? Or may it means they fail twice over.

Had a brief peek and did see a slight spoiler, which actually rather pleases me. Otherwise, they come across as a bunch of pissed off 12 year olds with no sense of perspective.

Looking at the thread, yeah. It looks like a spoiler was added. It was why I put spoiler warnings on the link. There was little in the way of spoilage when I posted but being a spoiler site, there was no reason to expect it to remain spoiler free.

And, yeah, they're kind of ridiculous (which is why they're funny).

'Harmonious' is... an interesting choice of words with regard to HP.

I love the stories and am looking forward to book seven, but I'm so grateful that I never got involved in the fandom. BtVS made me crazy enough; HP is definitely worse.
