Link to Whedon Interview regarding comics (BtVS mostly but some AtS as well) and Heroes.

When reading Whedon's response to favorite AtS character I can practically hear [personal profile] shapinglightsay that it was quite obvious.

It was after reading Lynch's “Spike: Asylum” that Whedon was struck with how completely the writer had captured his characters' voices.

I thought this was a pretty funny reason to choose somebody to write AtS, given that Angel himself wasn't in that series at all :)

LOL. True.

So basically... he got Spike and Lorne right.

(That said, I do agree that Spike:Asylum was one of the better comics in the BtVS/AtS series.)

So true.

And thank goodness he's off WW. Eyes premise and shudders at the idea of Wonder Whiner.

He never appeared particularly interested in that project, did he.

Please just make him go away. Please.

No surprise re: Illyria. I think we all knew he had some weird crush on AA.

As far as his going away... I think he's mostly taking care of that himself.

I'm sure the Buffy comics will go on. But I won't care.

And his X-Men comics may go on. But I won't care.

And someone else is writing the AtS comic, and I am glad.

Given that the Wonder Woman project (as far as he's concerned) is dead, he is becoming largely irrelevant to my fannish tendencies (and, again, I am glad).

He's being replaced on X-Men by Warren Ellis - who'll presumably give Wolverine a storyline rather than walk-ons to be made fun of and who'll get the comics out in such a way that they're not three meag-crossover events behind but working the crossovers with everyone else.
And he's only doing a short run on Runaways rather than a proper run, like people such as JMS manage.

Heh - as [livejournal.com profile] ahedonia once said, "Not everyone loves waifs, Joss." Which is to say I think he was equally in love with Fred as well as Illyria.

He's such an obvious tool.

Yep - I'll say it anyway.

It was obvious.
