Dear Mother Nature,

It may have escaped your notice, but it is now October, which is a month that is supposed to occur during the fall.  I don't want to sound unappreciative of the fact that that after extended bouts of temperatures in excess of 100, you finally turned down the thermostat just a bit.  It was a welcome change of pace.

However, if you look at your calendar you will notice that you forgot to switch from summer mode into the season that's supposed to precede winter.  FYI - temperatures in the mid to high ninties (It hit a hundred two days last week) do not belong in this part of the year.  Summer clothes seem too "summery", and fall clothes are simply too damn hot. People got blistered at the football game Saturday.  It would also be nice if my air conditioner wasn't required to work overtime.  And, just so you know, rain  would be a welcome addition annnnnyyyy time that you would like to provide it.

I realize you're busy with the cool temperatures in the Northwest, but it would be nice if the South was given weather that even somewhat vaguely resembled Indian Summer if not fall itself.

Sincerely,
Shipperx

It's the end days, I'm tellin' ya. 90's and up here in NC since July except for one five day break after the 'day' (notice the singularity there) it rained in Sept. OH! We did have a couple 80 degree days a week ago.

Tell me about it! We've had temps in the upper 80s - low 90s for several days now. Running the AC is October is just plain wrong.

Sing it sister. Here in Wisconsin, it is damn near 90 with dewpoints approaching 70.

Indian Summer is temperatures in the seventies, no humidity, breezy, sunshine.

This ain't July. I want my fall.

It's in the 90s in PA as well and the humidity is just disgusting. However, we're supposed to drop to the high 50s/low 60s by the end of the week.

It went from 90's overnight to low 50's in Phoenix - within something like two days. We went directly from shorts and tank tops in the daytime to the heavy comforter at night (the weekend was almost chilly for us).

Oh you don't like summer, like extended summer? I pray every night that summer doesn't end because everybody tells me how awful is winter. I am pretty scared of it. (it is my first winter ever, I come from a country that only has springtime, God bless)

Oh, I love summer, it's just that this one started last February and has featured months of drought, causing severe water restrictions (and use penalties) even before we had the month of 105 temperatures, which pretty much killed most of the already suffering plants.

It's been a very long, hot, dry summer around here.
