Whee! Bootlegged X-Files trailer from the Paley panel:
And, listen up, CC. About the only thing worth remembering about the XF series finale was that Mulder and Scully ended up together. So please, for the love of continuity, don't have screwed that up in some sort of post-series retcon.
ETA: And reading the TVGuide article about the bootlegged trailer, it seems that CC said in the panel that the issue of Mulder and Scully's child would be addressed in the film. Frankly, that was one bit of continuity I thought they'd forget on purpose. And going back to my first pre-emptive complaint, they better not use Baby William as a way to have torn Scully and Mulder apart. I don't want to hear that Mulder couldn't forgive Scully for putting the kid up for adoption and I also don't want to hear the alternative of Scully not forgiving Mulder for -- I don't know, being a crackpot -- that thus necessitated that she give their child up for adoption. I'd rather they ignore the kid than his existence being tied to either of these options. The one thing that was always the core of MSR was that Mulder and Scully would walk through the depths of hell for each other, no matter what.
Now, if it was to give Scully that kid back, I might be on board. (Seriously, they killed Emily and stole Scully's ova. Wasn't that enough without requiring she put her love-child up for adoption too? That always ticked me off, even if I was totally on board with M/S being freed up from an infant whose existence I mostly ignore. It was just the injustice of doing that to Scully which bothered me, not that I was wanting them to have baby makes three.)

Date: 2008-03-28 01:57 am (UTC)And I know that I'm probably way over reacting due to Jossian flashbacks of "Continuity? We don't need no stinking continuity!" Not that XF was awesome with continuity, but they were always consistent with Mulder/Scully being rock solid for one another.

Date: 2008-03-28 01:49 am (UTC)That was always whay set him in a good light in my eyes compared to Joss. Joss would inevitably have wanted to say "Wouldn't it be cool if Scully betrayed Mulder...." and CC knew that it wouldn't.

Date: 2008-03-28 01:55 am (UTC)I suppose I'm suffering from Post Traumatic Joss Syndrome where I suspect that there is some post-series reset that doesn't make a great deal of sense and their running around a castle in Scotland with sci-fi weapons and leather pants suits. Though I don't believe that CC would make baby William a giant and then not bother to do anything with it. >:)

Date: 2008-03-28 06:18 am (UTC)Duchovny looks like hell, but nonetheless I am now officially excited about this movie.
Am I hallucinating, or did I see Hugh Laurie AND Billy Connolly in the trailer?
And word about William -- no to the Kid Ex Machina!
