shipperx: (Don't Shoot We're Pathetic)

My brain is dead. Dead brain cannot think any more.

In theory today was my day off, but due to deadlines and having been called to help others on other projects to the point that I'm slightly anxious about making my own deadline, I worked a half day today. However, by the time I ate a late lunch, went to my sister's hellhole house site with a construction detail (that I stayed at work late last night to draw), searched for coffee pot for my mom, and hit the farmer's market (for some super delicious silver queen corn), I made it home at 6pm just like always. I'm looking forward to sleeping late in the morning.

On other issues...

* I've been struggling with Chapter 3 of my fic. I think I've managed a superfluous ficlet out of it, because the scene I've written doesn't actually fit into the chapter. It gives background to my story but slows the pace such that I think it has to go. I may post the scene as a companion ficlet, though. That still leaves me with the need to write the actual chapter. I have the original rough draft of the chapter but some staging has changed so significantly that I'm having to do major restructuring. Don't know whether I'll make this month's [livejournal.com profile] wip_out deadline.

* Ever have a commercial break your heart? I saw a commercial for the new XF movie and there was a line in one of the commercials where Scully says "I don't work with Mulder any more." Wha-wha-wha-what???! Nooooo! (Okay, that's my visceral reaction. My more sane reaction was that I kind of expected that. The fanficcer in me kept insisting that if I was Chris Carter, I would have had Mulder and Scully estranged so as to give some emotional tension to the story. However, the M/S shipper in me whimpered.) I do hope that this movie doesn't suck.

* On the other hand, a few of the Hellboy II commercials crack me up.

And I have some comments about the book that I just finished reading, but I'm too tired to put coherent sentences together. Maybe tomorrow.

I'm definitely reading reviews of the XF movie from shippers before I decide whether I'll see it or not. I was actually kind of excited about the movie -- which was a minor miracle considering the hate I had on for Chris Carter by the end of the series. But that got shot down once I started reading about it and realized that CC was probably gonna have M&S apart at the start of the movie. And I started remembering why I had such a shuddering bad taste in my mouth about XF for so long, and why CC is so high on my shit list. He infuriates me. He's always so "it's about the scary stories, not the relationship," and then he makes a decision to have M&S be apart, so that people WILL fixate about the relationship. ARGH! [/lingering baggage]

I'm actually realitively sanguine with the way CC handled the ship on the show. I kind of liked that it was played mostly in subtext so I don't think I chagged under it quite as much as many shippers.

I am however of the shipper slant and want my ship to still be sailing. :)

FWIW, I suspect that's somewhere near the beginning of the movie. In a TV Guide article that I saw recently, either Chris Carter or the movie's director said that the movie was about 'Mulder and Scully's love story'. I suspect it's going to at least be shipper-friendly. Also, one of the photos was definitely hot.

Oh, my rational side feels pretty certain that the ship will resolve in a way I'll be satisfied with. And the rational side of me understands the need for some friction in the story. But that's my head. My heart tends toward knee-jerk reactions. :)

I thought she said "I don't want to chase monsters anymore."

I'm not sure. It's just the way I heard it the other morning and my instinctive reaction. It could be that I'm expecting to hear something like that makes me hear it. :)

I just saw the commercial and she does say that she doesn't want to work with Mulder. Scully couldn't leave him abandoned for long, though. She can't resist rescuing him.

Ah. You're S/M moment reminded me of those joyous Romer/NoRomer Fandom Wars. Do you remember them? I didn't participate, but I watched from the sidelines. The Dramaz! LOL.

Oh heck yeah! I remember. I was always a shipper but liked it relatively subtext so I was never deep in the wars. But I do remember them. And I remember the Dogget hatred on Mulder's exit (and I rather liked Doggett). It's really my first online fandom.

Lol, loved those commercial. I liked the first Hellboy movie, I am hoping the second will be good too. Not such a good week here either, my mother was diagnosed with very early breast cancer. Acourse I took the news worse than she did. So we just have to move forward. I don't thinks she will need chemco, but in the least more surgery and radiation treatment.

I'm so sorry!

They've come a long way with breast cancer treatment in the last several years. Sending healthful vibew your mom's way.

And, yeahm, whoever ran Hellboy's ad campaign did a great job.

Thank you. We are doing better, we got some good news today. Depending on her MRI tomorrow, and if their aren't any other tumors. Then she is in stage one. So no chemco, but their will be radiation and hormonal treatments. So she and I do feel a lot better.

Even if the movie wasn't any good, those Hellboy commercials are classics.
