shipperx: (Scully - I want to believe)

Was reminded today that the XF movie is coming up, so I'm indulging the never-say-die XF shipper in me.

Before I fell for Spuffy. Before I heard of Aeryn and John, I adored Mulder and Scully...

Hoo boy. That Snow Patrol song totally got me. Very apt.

I wasn't an overt Mulder/Scully shipper during the show, but I don't think I had to be - throughout everything their profound attachment to one another was a given. It wasn't like B/S or Aeryn/John - they all had to work hard for their relationships. Mulder and Scully were a couple from day one - maybe not a conventional couple, but a couple nonetheless. External forces always tried to separate them, but it never worked. That made them great and in retrospect actually sort of refreshing.

Mulder and Scully's relationship was one of absolute, unwavering trust and that's such a rare thing that it naturally made them a couple long before they became a 'couple'.

And, yeah, in retrospect the absoluteness, it's unquestioned nature is remarkably rare. It was there and recognizable without their having to belabor the point.

::happy sigh::

I saw one of my favorite Scully/Mulder shippy scenes which is in one of those godawful Mimi Rogers epiode. It's the one where Mulder has become a raving lunatic and Scully is trying to see him. Someone (maybe the Diana character) say that Mulder is a danger to everyone. Scully shoots back with complete confidence "Not to me!" I loved her confidence in their bond.

And so very true. That was the thing for Mulder and Scully. By the time the series had developed a few years there really could be no one else. They'd shared too much, been through too much, had seen too much. No one could ever understand them as well as they understood each other. They saw each others flaws. They knew each others failings... and they'd willingly walk through the bowels of hell for each other. No questions asked.

I keep thinking I really need to break out my XF DVDs and rewatch in order to get in shape for the movie - although I'll probably just wait for the movie to come out on DVD, because I suck that way. LOL

Honestly, I don't think you even need all of the DVDs. I'd say Requiem, Existence, and The Truth would be enough.

Argggggh! I just watched the eight episodes that are in the new DVD compilation and now I have to watch more! Oh, the pain. ;-)

Thanks for the tip. I'll try to get these watched tomorrow morning before I leave to see my mom. I'm going to the show after I leave her.

::sigh:: I have forgotten too much. I was never a rabid fan. I faded in and out depending on the season. But I never questioned the love between Mulder and Scully.

I was out just last night desperately looking for movie spoilers so your timing is perfect.

I may need to Netfix XF and watch from the beginning.

That was the thing about Mulder and Scully. We really didn't need the words (though seeing some sex would have been nice). But we didn't need to be told they loved each other. It was there. Period.

And, having seen the movie... it still is. They love each other -- even when they fight, even when they fail, even when it's hard, they love each other.

And DD and GA still have wonderful chemistry.

Netflix is mailing S1 to me even as we speak...

DD and GA do have absolutely wonderful chemistry and M/S is one of the great TV couples of all time.

I loved the episode that ended with Mulder teaching Scully how to bat. She told Mulder to "Shut up!" because she was playing baseball. That's when I knew the characters were in love with each other, when he was holding her and teaching her how to bat.

I'm very excited for this movie. Very very!!!

The Unnatural.

Hands before hips. Hands before hips.

Shut up, Mulder. I'm playing base ball.

Hee! (And how scary is it that I remember that after all these years?)
