This is where recognizing an actor from somewhere else really hurts watching them in a new role. John's new teen love interest used to play identical half-siblings (yeah, that's what I said... ONLY on soaps) on AMC, and I loathed her. Actually, I didn't mind her (at first) as long as she was playing autistic Lily, but by the time they made her play dual roles (Lily and Ava), most of the audience had come to loathe her and to especially loathe her new character. Add in the actress's really bad attitude and age-inappropriate partners and hard partying, and I was not looking forward to Leven Ramblin joining Sarah Connor Chronicles. And, thus far, it looks like she's playing a slightly sanitized version of the loathed Ava character. I don't know that I can be a fair judge of the new character because I'm already predisposed to loathing.

If I've ever seen that actress before I don't remember. Impressions and speculation about the new character aside, I was just pleased to see that the woman playing her is merely ordinary attractive, not a little slip of a thing or a tall, willowy beauty, yet has sparked the interest of the hottie who is John Connor (pardon my dirty ol' lady showing). Not that John's character is vain about his looks - what with him having one or two more important things to think about and do - but still, just saying...I like the casting in that respect.

This was actually a source of endless fascination on message boards when she was on "All My Children". When she played innocent, autistic teen Lily she came off as graceful and even delicate. When she was Ava she was a glomping horse. And she would play both characters simultaneously. It was really impossible to explain, because it wasn't weight gain. She played both characters at the same time, even --with the benefits of editing -- in the same scene. Because of that, it was constantly a source of wonder. How could she be lovely as Lily and this hulking line-backer presence as Ava when face, body, and hair didn't change! (Most people finally concluded that innocent Lily wore flats while Ava wore hooker heels... well, Ava was a hooker, so I guess that worked for the character. But when she was in heels she glomped across stage and looked like this unweildy creature constantly in danger of knocking over furniture). But it was amazing how her whole appearance would change with wardrobe and it wasn't as though Ava was supposed to be hulking. She was supposed to be sexy. But she looked so, so much better when she was demur and preppy as Lily.

For years she was somewhat popular as Lily (she played the character from about 14 until she took the part on Sarah Connor Chronicles). But her popularity plummeted as the actress (who actually is quite young) began living a very hard Lindsey Lohanesque lifestyle, began behaving atrociously at fan events, was reported to have back stage fights, got an actor fired, and dated a man nearly twice her age (even though she was... I think possibly even still is, a minor.)

Its sad because I liked her as a kid, but that wore off I was not excited to hear that SCC had hired her.

It's not that she has no talent. She has displayed talent in the past. It's just that she's very much of the starlet on a trainwreck ilk.

Maybe this opportunity will set her on a good track, but she's been a Page Six party girl for a few years now (going back to the age of fifteen).

Odd bit of trivia -- Leven Ramblin(the girl we're talking about) and BtVS's Michelle Trachtenberg both played the character Lily Montgomery on "All My Children."
