I don't flippin' care if it makes any sense, it's been so fun lately!
* Big old 4-toed Ozymandias statue, cool!
* I could tell from the voice that the "boss" would be Sawyer (and I figured that made sense with Jin being Dharma guy that Jack/Kate/Hurley ran into the previous episode).
* Glasses! (It's a kink, okay. Sue me. :)
* Reiko Ailsworth!
* Poor Daniel.
* I like Juliet so much more than Kate! Juliet is kind of cool. (And clearly, a great shot!)
* Okay, so clearly Reiko isn't in the first trimester, here. So... did the problem with pregnant women start later?
* Hee! Sawyer running a con.
* Your buddy with the eyeliner. LOL! Perfect description of Richard.
* Totally liking Sawyer/Juliet (Though I know we're on a collision course with a Quad of Doom!)
* Okay, what exactly happened to transform Sawyer so much? Did he go to Africa to find Lurky to get a soul? It's like he's suddenly a reformed and responsible man. (Someone check him for a fever!) Heh.
* It's 1974, so that means the "Three years later" is 1977.
* You know, there's quite a contrast here. The people who left the island self destructed. The people (or at least Juliet and Sawyer) found some form of peace. I'm sure there's some Lostian point about that.

Date: 2009-03-05 05:02 am (UTC)That final scene, though - "Sawyer, NOOOOOOOOOO!! Don't look her in the eye! Run away, run away!" Seriously, I don't hate Kate either, but Juliette is about ten thousand times more awesome.

Date: 2009-03-05 04:10 am (UTC)And I actually don't hate any LOST character. Some I simply mock more than others. :)

Date: 2009-03-07 04:06 am (UTC)I mean, I figure Kate is probably good for at least one lip lock before deciding to ping pong to the other guy again.

Date: 2009-03-05 03:47 am (UTC)1st, LOLOLOLOLOL, then, perhaps it was Juliet. She does have a peaceful way about her - maybe she tamed him a bit. Maybe having someone truly love him made him a kinder, gentler James.

Date: 2009-03-05 07:02 am (UTC)Good last point, though, but regarding Sawyer's "reformation" - well, chameleon that he is, I think he just slipped easily into the role of well-respected man and leader, and he ended up enjoying it. I think Juliet helped there, too. :)

Date: 2009-03-06 02:54 am (UTC)He also commented that he thinks Sawyer wiped his personal slate clean when he sacrificed himself for others by jumping from the helicopter, so he's ready for a different life now, one that's better than any other he's known in his adult life.
I suspect Sawyer will fight hard to keep that life.

Date: 2009-03-05 01:20 pm (UTC)I think we saw the transformation of Sawyer start last season when he began helping and caring about people like Claire and Hurley, etc. I think he was desperate to stay on the Island because he felt he could be someone different there, start over, wipe the slate clean (but he was wrong trying to get Kate to stay because she would never have seen him that way). Now that he's there and thrust into a leadership role, he blossoms. Honestly, I think we're supposed to think that Kate was the trigger for the transformation because he fell in love but that to fully realize his potential he had to be outside her influence (reminds me of Spike, actually).
It will be interesting to see how he continues once Kate is introduced back into his world. Will they fall back into old patterns? Or will Kate now fall in love with the new and improved Sawyer?? It will also be interesting to see Sawyer and Jack/Locke come into conflict as Sawyer looks to be highly invested in his life and may not want to risk giving up playing happy families for whatever 'destiny' has in mind. Ultimately, if they stay there, they are all headed for the Purge unless they are somehow influencing future events. Although given that Sawyer put the truce at risk, it seems more that the presence of the Losties is propelling things towards their inevitable conclusion, not altering things for the better.
Are we in time paradox land here?
I don't think all of the off-Islanders were unhappy. Kate seemed exceedingly happy with Aaron and Jack. She just had to resolve her legal issues. Sayid was also happy and at peace, as we saw last episode. He just had to get through his grief over Nadia and get free of Ben. I think the point is more that people who find love are fine it's the ones who can't let go of the past (regardless of where they are) that are in trouble. I think that was the point of what Sayid and Kate were trying to tell Locke and that was the Lostie mesage.
I still think Locke is being duped and isn't one iota special at all.

Date: 2009-03-07 04:11 am (UTC)Well, for some reason he was cured of being a parapalegic.
That said, I think Locke is a self-fulfilling prophecy. He told Richard he was chosen... so Richard "chose" him as a child.
I don't however, think Locke's is a unique destiny. I think most of our Losties are "destined" to be where they are.
