Don't know when I'll have the chance to see it, but I've been reading the reviews for Star Trek and it sounds like it's pretty good. I'm glad. I'm looking forward to it.

And its trailer looks pretty darn good.

Terminator:Salvation's trailer also looks good.

ETA: And is anyone else's LJ behaving wonkily? I'm signed in. When I look at my recent posts I'm signed in. When replying to someone's post it behaves as though I'm signed in. BUt when I look at my friends page I keep seeing "may be viewing adult content" and if I look up at the top bar, it says I'm not signed in. Wha-huh??

Unfortunately, I've never been an X-Men fan. My main memory of X-Men 2 was becoming motion sick when watching it (Albeit, that was on DVD in a moving vehicle). :)

saw it today (just as I have seen the last 9 ST movies in the theatres).

I am not the biggest JJ Abrams fan (got tired of his brand of mindfvck by S3 of ALIAS and havent seen one of his TV series since) but thought the movie was very good, very respectful of the tradition and mythology of the original series while tweaking it enough. Still had some plotholes tho.

Overall, glad I saw it in the theatres, don't mind having paid $12.50 for it (much) but am not interested in getting it on DVD.

And boy, does having most of the new crew be so baby-faced make me feel ancient.

I don't have particularly strong feelings about JJ Abrams either way. I hated Felicity and never could get into Alias. However, I am one of the survivors of the LOST slump that hung on until it because WTF?!?! awesome. But I don't tend to truly credity JJ Abrams with that as he doesn't do that much imput with LOST and freely admits it. It's primarily Lindelhof's baby (And I've noted that Lindelhof is one of the producers listed on Star Trek).

At any rate, I'm neutral on JJ Abrams. My interest in ST is nostlagic. It was standard after school re-run fare when I was growing up and, though I was never a Trekkie, I'm pretty sure that at some point of another I've watched all of it. I have that nostalgic affection for the characters and if the movie is any good, I'll want to see it. So now that I know it's not a trainwreck, I want to see it.

And yeah, the baby-faced leads make me feel ancient. :)

I LOOOOOOOOOOOOVED the new Star Trek movie. My sister, who was never interested in the original series, loved it and can't wait for the sequel. My eight-year-old nephew loved it and is now in a lather to see all the original episodes.

One of the great things about it is that via time-travel and alternate realities, the plot of this movie jives beautifully with established canon, so that the characters' lives are cleared for all-new developments without negating the things that happened to them in the previous movies and TV shows. All the actors have nailed the personalities of the Trek characters spot-on (I will NEVER tire of watching Simon Pegg play Scotty -- oh my GOD, that man is funny), and there's a surprise romance that's tender and touching and, thanks to the actors, absolutely believable.

Meant to add, you know how in even the best movies, there's usually a point where the story or action kind of drags, and you think, "Now's a good time for me to run to the bathroom," or "Okay, it's getting boring now"...that never happened in the new Star Trek movie. I was riveted to the screen the entire time.

Oh and I know that you probably wont do it but I find Wordpress way better than Blogspot or LJ in terms of themes and features.

I tend to be lazy so even with the whole Dreamwidth thing, unless LJ implodes at some point, I'm probably not going anywhere. :)
