Don't know the names of the writers on True Blood, or whether Alan Ball is the only primary writer, but the dialog this episode was sharper than most episodes. There were more funnies.

The 'Bill catches Hoyte and Jessica' scene was cute. I like Hoyte and Jessica though I suspect things could turn out badly for Hoyte. Still, Bill the outraged sire is usually comedy gold.

Bill: "I am a vampire. I am supposed to be tormented."

(Only if you're Louis or Angel, Bill!)

Jason's "Who was the first vampire?" discussion was also pretty funny... and sacrilegious.

Jason:...Everybody knows Dracula was the first vampire.
Cultist #1: It's in the Bible, moron. Jesus brought Lazuras back from the dead.
Jason: So Jesus is the first vampire? (Lightbulb) Maybe Jesus was the first vampire! He rose from the dead too! And he told people, 'Hey ya'll, drink my blood. It'lL give ya special powers'.
Cultest #1: Jesus never said that!
Cultest #2: The first vampire was Cain. Being a vampire is the mark of Cain. It's God's punishment for brigin' first evil into the world.
Cultest #1: The first evil was Eve. Eatin' the apple. That's why they call it Eveil
Jason: That was just skirtin' the rules. Evil is makin' the premedicated choice to be a dick.
Cultiest #1: God will make sure, evil gets punished.
Jason: Yeah? Then explain Europe to me.

LOL! So much stupidity in one conversation!

And, boy, the homophobic hoyay is off the charts at religious camp.

Detective Andy's obsession with the pig is also pretty funny.
Detective Andy: Was [that pig] brown? Cause I seen that pig. In a dollhouse!
Sheriff Bud: Andy you're drunk. On the job.
Detective Andy: I ain't drunk. (beat) Oh, like you ain't never had a beer in the middle of the day.

Sook took all of about 3 nanoseconds to make her conversation with Sam all about her. Typical. I mean, the girl tries. She apparently can't help being self-absorbed. But... at least she tries.

Maryanne has an orgy featuring Egg's glorious ass. (And is her servant the pig?)

Lafayette gets his mojo back (hoorah!) with a taste O' Eric

And Jessica gets pretty tasty-looking take-out.

Finally is mindreading guy going to reveal to Sook (book spoiler ahead. Avoid if you don't want to know) that she's part fairy?

I worded that wrong. What I meant was that television Bill comes off as older than television Eric, but I guess that's just because he's stuffier than Eric...which is probably more a product of his Confederate upbringing than his age. Whereas television Eric seems less stuffy. Which I guess is probably because he's a Viking. I'm pretty sure that Vikings weren't a stuffy people.

OTOH, book Eric always seemed older than book Bill - who was always played by broody Angel in my mind's eye.

Yeah, I think the whole Victorian/Confederate thing contributes to Bill having a decidedly different vibe and personality than Eric.

And I do gather that Book Eric is decidedly different than TV show Eric. Haven't read the books though (well, at least not beyond the first one).
