Best line of TWOP's recap of last night's True Blood:
"[Eggs] starts feeling mysterious vibes and leads Tara to a random campsite where the Blair Witch once had a keg party, apparently."
Best Line in the Episode: Sookie declaring that Sarah 'looks like vanilla pudding' (except I must point out, that Sookie is a heck of a lot like Sarah. So I guess if Sarah is vanilla pudding, Sookie is, perhaps, banana (Which is mostly vanilla pudding with some fruit and cookies thrown in).
Other best moment of the ep was Lafayette wigging out and seeing Eric while hearing Andy.
People to like this episode: Hoyte deserves a hug for going to Jessica. Terry for standing up to Andy and giving PTSD Layfayette much needed comfort. Sam just for being clueless and cute.
Thing about True Blood that I don't really understand: why are most of the sex scenes so unappealing? The Lorena/Bill sex scene soaked in blood while their victim lay dying, while a scenario not unfamiliar to those of us who saw the AtS episode where Darla/Angel did the same thing in front of Hotlz's dead wife, was much more... er... offputting? Boy, the staging on True Blood goes for the ookie factor. (Speaking of the flashback, is Bill the most dorky vampire ever? Scary at the end of it? Yeah. But the piano singer/hand kisser part of it? DORKY!)
Oh, yeah, then there's the orgy. I'm afraid that those have lost their shock value in the last few weeks and thus it was not as disturbing as the Lorena/Bill sex. Still, boy this show likes its sex to be discomforting to watch. (I've never before realized that I'm that squimish about blood)
Finally, I worry about Isabel's human lover. He seems suspiciously like a Red Shirt.
Random thought: Given what we've seen of vampire sex on True Blood, the laundry service bill for that vamp hotel must be astronomical!
On another topic:
Watched Being Human. It's less campy, trashy 'fun' than True Blood, but I think, qualatatively better.
Watched Doctor Who: Planet of the Dead and... eh.

It's a full meal to True Blood's hot fudge sundae.

Date: 2009-07-27 08:00 pm (UTC)Nice angsty, conflicted vampire and werewolf. Even more angsty ghost. The bicker like old married. Defintely a show I'm going to love.
Now on to True Blood.
I totally adore the Hoyt/Jessica ship. Such cute innocent fun...for now. I thought Jessica was going to be the Harmony idiot vamp of the show, but she's turning out to be one of the more normal characters. She's adorable, and i love how Hoyt doesn't care and loves her for being herself...something neither of their parents ever let them be.
Pam. A cameo, but she's always made of win. Initially I was, wow, Eric digs the older ladies but then I realized the actress is the same age as me, so I take back the older, older comment.
Maryann really needs to meet Buffy in a bad way. And she should bring Spike so he can fling an insult or two along the lines of cheap, whorish fashion victim. I really love hating Maryann.
Tara and Eggs: Meh. enough said.
Terry is always made of WIN!
Isabelle's Red Shirt. Nice way to put it. Pretty red shirt that looks like a Taller Christian Kane. And since he's pretty and without purpose, I expect him to die in the Great Escape that will likely happen in a few episodes.
And now that Bill can sing perfectly and speak French, he has officially contracted the incurable Mary Sue Syndrome. What's next? Violet colored eyes? You're right, most dorky vampire that ever has been. Spike could kick his ass with one hand tied behind his back.
Which brings us to NOT ENOUGH ERIC! or Lafayette for that matter.
Can we just vamp Lafayette and make him part of the the bizarre love triangle with Eric and Pam? I mean, please, he'd make a wonderfully bitchy vamp that would be great from the ongoing commentary of the carnage around him.

However, I think the singing has now confired Bill as the most dorkified vamper evah! (And, yes, I'm including Edward Cullen).

Date: 2009-07-27 08:07 pm (UTC)HA! This is exactly what I shouted when I saw him, particularly after Sookie read his mind. So, so obvious. Poor guy.
And Being Human is worlds better than True Blood (particularly after the way this TB season is shaping up). Stick with it. I especially love Russell Tovey in this.

Date: 2009-07-27 08:15 pm (UTC)I've heard good things about Being Human, and I really enjoyed the premiere.
With True Blood... Is it just me or have we now had two essentially filler eps in a row? In a show with only 12 episodes in a season, that's beginning to push it.

Date: 2009-07-28 12:57 am (UTC)One caveat: as the series progresses, keep a large box of tissues handy. I mean it. Nothing except "The Gift" and the end of S2 Doctor Who has made me cry more.
Two definite filler TB episodes, with only one good, intriguing scene between them. Things had better pick up soon, or this is seriously a sophomore slump season (heh).

Date: 2009-07-28 01:29 am (UTC)I'm wondering whether the graphic nature of the violence and biting actually distracts from the visceral horror of it. I'm all distracted by the blood.
I remember being quite horrified by Darla/Angel having sex over dead nuns, but I kind of rolled my eyes at Lorena/Bill having sex over their victim (well, until it became a total blood bath and then it was all -- ew. It's like having sex in the middle of a really heavy monthly X 10...)
And, I have to say, William the Bloody at his most tragically geeky was not as dorkified as Bill singing showtunes in a fake accent.
I'm just sayin'...
I do like Being Human's vamp.

Date: 2009-07-28 01:32 am (UTC)I don't know, though, PotD just didn't have a great deal of emotional pull for me, so it ended up being pretty tepid (amplified by the ludicrousness of the bus through a blackhole. Yeah, the Doctor is awesome and all, but a flying bus through a black hole?)
