Nothing else was on in the timeslot, so I ended up watching Nip/Tuck.

You know, watching Nip/Tuck these days is like wallowing in three day old filth. It's not even new filth. It's old, stale filth. There is truly no new depth that these characters could crawl to. It's all just wallowing like fat old piggies in a mudpit. (The implosion of Nip/Tuck is one reason that I remain wary of Glee's less successful plots. There is much that is good in Glee, but I still remember when Nip/Tuck was good... then it went bad. Very, very bad. ) This being Nip/Tuck's last season and all, I hope nearly all the characters die. They've become gross.

It's too sick/cynical/black for me. Makes something like the Sopranos seem positively moral and upbeat.

They went for storytelling through shock. The thing is, that constantly raises/lowers the bar. At this point nothing is shocking. We've seen Shawn and Cristian do too many reprehensible things so we're left thinking that absolutely nothing is beneath them. The whole thing is totally untethered from either reality or morality, so it's not playing against anything any more. It's just trying to go for shocks when there's nothing the characters could do to shock the audience any more.

It's just unending ugliness at this point.

You do analysis very well.

Sometimes I really like something, or am repelled by something, but I can't explain why.
