Sometimes what incredible asshats people can be utterly boggles the mind. From HuffPo:

Pat Robertson opined on his TV show, The 700 Club that [the earthquake in Haiti]happened because, in order to gain liberty from the French, Haiti made a pact with the Devil.

Something happened a long time ago in Haiti, and people might not want to talk about it. They were under the heel of the French. You know, Napoleon III, or whatever. And they got together and swore a pact to the Devil. They said, we will serve you if you'll get us free from the French. True story. And so, the Devil said, okay it's a deal.

Which becomes even more... um, special if you know that Haiti gained independence as a result of a slave uprising. Slaves, shipped from Africa, rose up, sent their oppressors packing, and founded their own country. This, apparently, is satanic.

As for why the Devil took 205 years to cash in... Well, y'know, the guy's busy. Just look at Pat Robertson.
