Fanfic discovery:
Be very, very wary of staging a scene in AtS's White Room. There's nothing for characters to do there except look at each other in an array of ways. Take my word for it. Don't do it. It's very frustrating.

Or rather, only do so if you don't care about craft and are happy with lines of dialogue bouncing around each other..*snerk*

Very tiny squee at the thought of getting a chapter to beta soonish?

It's actually the second chapter. I actually have one chapter that's quite close-ish (It was actually ready for beta at one point but I keep re-editing the end of it). I'm actually on the next chapter... which takes place in the White Room and... NEVER EVER PLACE A SCENE IN THE WHITE ROOM! Heh.

Seriously, there's nothing to lean on, touch, smell, etc. Hell, I've had Spike bite Lindsey (in a massive overreaction) just to have something active for the characters to do! (Unfortunately, character-wise, I have something important to take place there. But for the mechanics of staging it's hell!)

And that's why one of my fics is currently stalled. XD

I sympathize! It's been what's stalling me out as well.

*g* I suppose you could have the characters actually comment/complain about the fact that there's no place to sit in the White Room, that it's more boring than a watcher's conference, that the glare is making them snow-blind, that they're going to bring in a fern to liven the room up, etc. Acknowledge the elephant in the room/scene, in other words. ;D

I haven't yet put anyone inside the White Room in my fics yet, although I did have an original character mention it in a recent chapter -- a big, loud, Mary Kay-type woman who bought the damaged W&H building and afterward received a visit from Angel and his friends:

Louise had collared Angel as they walked, tucking her arm in his and quizzing him on Wes's description and last known whereabouts. "If you want to perform a locator spell while we're lookin', be my guest!" She called back to Willow. "There's a lot of energy in that old attic room that's white all over. What'd y'all design it for, anyway? It's so static-y in there that we haven't been able to do a thing with it. Now I like white, but not solid white, and especially not after Labor Day. So we mostly just use it for storage."

I would imagine a scene in the White Room would indeed be very difficult to write. I've never done that but I did do a short scene that involved the Oracles once-it was sort of like writing ... the absence of sound. If that makes sense, lol.
