He seems to have certain priorities, and if the issue is outside of those priorities, he can't be bothered to think about it.
It's one of the reasons Firefly drove me bananas. He apparently thought it was cool to literally have cowboys in space but he couldn't be assed to come up with any sociological explanation for why people in the future would adopt a dialect out of one small corner of a country for a brief time in the mid- 19th century. Don't just go "cool! metaphor that's no longer a metaphor but literally walking around" I want to know why! And I realized that Joss was never, ever going to tell me.
