Should I Stay or Should I Go?

I am still slogging through Cabot's Insatiable, but I've reached a point of constantly rolling my eyes at the goings on. Once, in the last ten minutes, I actually laughed at something (that wasn't intended to be funny) and had an "Oh, good grief!" reaction to something. I also find the 'romance' to be outrageously treacly and think that the vampire hunter is something of a pig. More, at this point, I've concluded that every character is a total idiot.

However, I'm also 3/4 of the way through the book so I'm practically at the end of it.

I'd bale, but I know that's hard.
But it is probably the best call. I made myself finish 'The Virgin's Lover' by Philippa Gregory and boy, was that piece of bad history agenda-ridden biased piece of crap not worth my hoping it might get better. It never does.

I'd skim away/skip to the end. That's what I did with the last Weis/Hickman book I tried to read. I had read enough that I wanted to know what happened but couldn't stand the idea of actually *reading* the rest. So I kind of flipped through to the end...

It's been a long time since I've read a Weis/Hickman book! I zipped through a bunch of them after I got caught up in one of their series and then realized that they weren't anything I'd want to reread (and I reread a lot) so I stopped buying their books.

Life if too short! If you were still hoping for better or at least finding it amusing, then go for it, but it doesn't seem as though it's going to get better. I got that way with the first book of Night Angel by Brent Weeks. I couldn't stand any of the characters and couldn't be bothered to read a book about them any more.

I used to force myself to finish every book I started, no matter how awful, but not anymore. I really did make a conscious decision that life is too short.

I've read the blurb on the back of "The Virgin's Lover" and it seemed very much of the "Do Not Want".

This one snuck by me because it was billed as satire. The thing is, by the midway point it's hard to tell whether it's really satirical or just crap.

Yeah, I'm leaning toward skimming. I'm so far in that even though I hate them all and wish I could think up a way for everyone to die, I kind of want to know what happens.

They've written a lot of sword and sorcery fiction which is rather paint by numbers. The ones that I read were not bad but not great.
