So, the whole comic preview 'thing.'  (Oh look!  Angel is now David Berkowitz and is that  Oceanic Flight 815 losing an engine that nails Donnie Darko? [/snark])

If fandom speculation about this preview proves true, I'm going to laugh my ass off about the poll I ran seven months ago guessing the ways that Joss would negate Bad Angel-Twangel (It's okay, Peaches.  You aren't responsible for anything) and  freeing the comics of having any point meaningful consequences by going ye old route of alternative timelines and do-overs.

I see that there's an old dog, in the preview.  Wonder if he has any new tricks...

I'm just baffled why the hell we needed text effects of the dog licking himself.

As for all the alt timeline stuff, I don't know. I *really* wouldn't make sense if this Angel is from the future. Not that that would make a difference in these things.

Also a little annoyed that at least half of this issue is going to be about trying to make Angel look good.

As was the Riley one-shot.

However, it's been clear for quite some time that no one involved with this comic remembers the adage that the when one finds themsevles in a hole, the first thing to do is to stop digging.

I can has link to poll?

And if they *seriously* do a time travel thing to *fix* everything I will never ever respect Joss ever again.

The art is definitely better than some of what this comic has produced.

Wonder if the dog is named Vincent (or is it just god spelled backwards?)

I'm thinking god spelled backwards but whatever.

Pie! I said pie then, and I stand by that. Angel should have a talking PIE, not a dog. (See the Simpsons.)

(Actually I think it'll probably be one of the first three. Except not Pete's World - no zeppelins! Also, if it was, then Rose and TenToo would be very busy trying to fix stuff. I can just hear it: "Good grief, this one's worse than Jack! I mean, despite what he says, I'm pretty sure that none of the sex he's ever had has been actually earth-shattering! Rose, hurry up and hand me the reality-stabilisers pronto, or you'll see the Earth blow up for the second time. Weeell, it's a parallel world, but even so. Plus, I'm sure your mother would find a way of surviving and then blame me. How was I supposed to know that this world was full of vampire lunatics?")

You have lurkers? :waves at them:

The Lost references were (heh!) lost on me. Also, time paradoxes - the refuge of the desperate (unless you're a DW writer, in which case they're mandatory).

:)

As was the Riley one-shot.

Yeah, but the Riley one-shot was added so they could give Angel's motivation, no? Sure, they made some possibly interesting contrasts, but in the end it was basically there to say, well, the PTB did it.

Really, though, my annoyance is just my own bias seeping through. At the end of the day, this is supposed to be Buffy's story and I'd rather see a reason why she's a sociopathic superemo than for them to pointlessly try to make Angel OK. (Because in the end, it doesn't matter insofar as the story is concerned.)

I briefly toyed with the idea that it's some sort of Bizarro World, headed by Bizarro!Buffy who does the opposite of what Actual!Buffy would do. It would fit right along with all the other DC "homages" going on.

One would hope to his real job (not insulting comics as 'not a real job' just saying that I don't think Joss has put much any effort in the writing of this one).

At the beginning of #36 Angel knows the future (he'd seen/lived it). One week ago, in the Riley one-shot, Whistler has to tell Angel about some future lines!

Did Angel just got dumber or it's an editorial mistake?

He could be referring to after Not Fade Away with all the talk of ruins. Just my guess since he couldn't have forgotten all that stuff.

The whole from the future thing just really doesn't make sense.

Ah, Bizarro!World... where Buffy doesn't care a fig about her sister that she died to save, Andrew is twice as idiocy-riddled as he should be, the opposite of balance in the universe is considered a paramount ideal, Xander purposefully goes to spend time with Dracula, Japanese FRUITS vampires have enough money to build a giant mecha Dawn that no one noticed being housed in the middle of downtown Tokyo, Buffy's deserve for Angel's manly bits causes her to ignore the 205 dead Slayers he's responsible for, and... you know what? It's too easy. Actual!Buffy is getting her scythe (not her sith) while Bizarro!Bizarro!Buffy is crying into some gelato right now.

No, because in British English 'the dog's bollocks' means that something is superb.

Then again, Joss mangled English slang so badly in the TV show that maybe he does think that 'the dog's bollocks' means the same as 'Bollocks!' without the canine qualifier, in other words exactly the reverse of what it really means. Or else he's insane enough to think that this pile of crap really is the dog's bollocks.

Isn't there a storyline in that series where Bizarro destroys his world on purpose because Superman's was destroyed by accident? Bizarro!Angel, too. Explains it all. :)

Agreed - I took it to be the beginning of whatever started him on the road to Twilight. It doesn't make sense as a flash forward.
