I don't know. I wish the GOP were misrepresenting more than they are because the facts are still really damned depressing.

Unfortunately their proposal is "More of the same stuff that got us here." So... a little 'how about something different' would be good. Giving yet more tax cuts to millionaires (who, statistically speaking, are the only folks who haven't been substantially damaged) isn't going to accomplish any more than it has for the last 10 years. And when looking at my 401K and what it's done that last fifteen years the concept of privitizing social security or having medical 'savings accounts' just seems insane.

I always identified Independent but the truth is, I grew up Republican. I just feel like the party left me. I had hoped that if they lost the last election that they'd cut a bit more moderate. Instead, they've gone off the charts in the opposite direction.

Saw that earlier today. I'm not a huge Krugman fan, but when he's right, he's right.

I don't disagree with anything you say here. The GOP had an opportunity here to do something different with themselves, and, you're right, it's more of the same, old shit.

I stopped self-identifying as a Republican a few years back because I realized they realistically had very little to do with *anything* I agreed with. I hate, though, that every election I feel like I have the choice between bad and bad. I'm almost to the point of wanting to stop voting (which I *never* thought I would think about doing) because I despise my choices.
