shipperx: (It Wasn't Me)

So, the antibiotics have helped.  And yesterday was Saturday so I went to the game (because when you factor in the club fees, etc you have to pay for season tickets, you have paid substantially more than ticket face value)  Anyway, by the end of the game I was in misery, and by the drive home (I did not drive) I was in extreme misery.  I don't think a hit of Advair has ever been more welcome.  Seriously, it was amazing when I resorted to Advair just how much it helped.  It makes me wonder whether I had an asthma attack or something.   Suddenly, after the Advair it was like I could breathe (and I've had an Advair prescription for years, though I only need it rather sporadically.  I've never had that much of a positive reaction to it before).   At any rate, the plan for today is to take it very, very easy.  I really shouldn't have gone to the game.  But, having survived having done so, I'm just going to take it easy and stay in my chair watching TV today.

Fringe question:  So if the code is millions of years old... what are the odds that all of the locations would be above water?

Definitely take it very easy today.

It's a gray yuck day outside, and I still haven't watched this week's Vampire Diaries, so I'm pretty set.

I'll probably order gumbo from "The Fish Market" for dinner, it's metaphorically across the street (which is a way of saying within a 1/2 mile of the house).

Oh no! Take it easy, yeah. Johnny says relax.

So if the code is millions of years old... what are the odds that all of the locations would be above water?

If the code is millions of years old, what are the odds that the locations are still in the same locations?

Heh. Exactly.

I suppose maybe "the First people" had advanced calculations that took continental drift into account...? ;)

Now that would be impressive.

Well they aparently knew how to build a doomsday machine of advanced technology that could work after having been buried a few million years so, I suppose they could also have improbably awesome knowledge of plate tectonics.

After all, it is a show where our heroine is trapped in an alternate dimension and her not-quite-evil doppleganger is banging her true love while trying to convince him to reassemble said doomsday machine because only one of the two Earths can survive and she wants it to be hers. :)

Maybe the code has built-in adjustments depending on the year in which you're looking for it--like you say, predicting continental drift.

LOL. JJ loves him some doppelgangers. Oh, Alias.

Heh. JJ loves improbably complex 'mysteries.' :)

boring medical lecture ahead

short medical lecture-- Advair is made of two medications: Serevent & Fluticasone. Serevent is a long lasting bronchodialator and Fluticasone is an inhaled steroid; they both work best in a long term way. Sevevent prevents bronchospasm and fluticasone decreases swelling.

The short version is that they work best long term, and used every day. You should use your albuterol inhaler in emergencies like that.

err, it's just possibly that I've had this lecture from my own doctor...

I don't generally have asthma (so no albuterol inhaler on hand). I have something more vague like 'reactive airway' which really is that generally I don't have asthma, but in the wake of repiratory illnesses (such as my three bouts of pneumonia and whatever this is) it seems to happen exacerbate problems until I've fully recovered.

I think the cold air at the game was part of what caused it (not that it was actually even cold. It was actually great weather, but it was probably 10 degrees cooler than it had been in the house so maybe that was enough to trigger it).

"Reactive Airway Disease" is the technical term for asthma. Just FYI! It's a much better description of the problem IMO.

If the advair helps you probably should use it while you're sick. And ask your doctor for an albuterol inhaler; it's a fast acting bronchodialator!

I've actually never had an incident like I did last night. the advair prescription is mostly from the last two times I had walking pneumonia. "reactive airway" was just what was thrown at it in the wake of pneumonia. Generally, it's not a problem other than whatever has gone on (since my initial bought of actual (rather than walking) pneumonia several years ago has made me somewhat more prone bad rather than mild cases when I catch something respiratory related. In the wake of those, things like advair seem to help. Under normal circumstances, it's not a problem, although I probably should have started the advair at the first sign of a cough and didn't.

Weather shifts, especially to cold and dry can really tighten airways in those of us with asthma and an inhaler hit can really make a difference.
I'm glad the antibiotics are helping.

Thin. And tries not to think about continental drift/break-up.

I generally don't have asthma (when I'm healthy). But having had pneumonia a few times now, and having about decided that what I've had the last week or so has been bronchitis (edging it's way to pneumonia) I can end up with persistent asthma-like symptoms until I've recovered. So, fortunately, it's not a full time thing, just something I try to keep in check with advair.

And, yeah, I think the cool night air did it. It wasn't cold. In fact, we had great weather but it was about 60F at the game and I think that was all that was needed to do it (that and the hellaciously long walk up to the deck where our seats are).

Exercise when you've twitchy airways is also a well known trigger for an attack/tightening of the airways. The treatment is inhaler first, then exercise.

It shouldn't impact long term viewing. It was the mystery of one episode. :)

If that's the most inexplicable bit in the episode for you, I bow down before your superior understanding of everything ;)

I'd say if they had the technology to create and erase worlds, they could probably calculate stuff like convenience of getting to the parts of the machine that facilitates it. Though, apparently, not to prevent their own demise. Speaking of which, where did all the creepy bald guys disappear to?
