Heh!  It took a sense of humor for Fringe to produce this:

Picked up from EW.com:

It looks as though the folks over at Fringe are preparing to deal with their Jan. 21 move to Fridays with anything but denial, anger, bargaining, depression, or acceptance. Well, maybe acceptance, but it’s of a uniquely aggressive sort:

Heh.

Heh! I watched Season 1 & 2 over the Summer. I actually came to quite enjoy it. And Season 3 has been good. I dismissed it originally because it seemed too much of an X-Files rip-off but as they developed their own mythology it became fun.

(Basically, Walter is your archetypal genius mad-scientist. Back in the 80s he was working on Fringe science with his co-hort (Leonard Nimoy!), including research into the concept of alternate universe's. When Walter's son died, the devestated Walter did the unthinkable... he crossed into the alternate universe and stole the alt_Peter, bringing him home as his son. The after effects of which, drove Walter nuts (and he spent years in the looney bin). FBI Agent Olivia was, unknowingly, used in Fringe experiments when she was young, when drugs were used to stimulate part of her brain. She now has photographic memory... and the ability to cross over into the alternate world. Where her alternate works for the alternate Fringe in a world where the Statue of Liberty is made of bronze, where the twin towers still stand, where Kennedy and Martin Luther King were never assassinated, and where Alt_Walter is teh evol Secretary of Defense.

The problem is the breaching of the walls between worlds is causing them --especially the alt-world-- to break down. Only one universe can survive, and both sides naturally want it to be theirs.

It's actually evolved into something kind of neat.

Not to mention the DIRIGIBLES! (Always necessary for alt-universes, implying the Hindenburg never crashed, o'course.)

I was also deeply intrigued when, presented with a $20 bill from this universe, the folks in the Walternate universe said, "Who's Andrew Jackson?" I would LOVE to see a history of that universe!

I wonder whether there was a Civil War...

Ooo, good question; I believe their $20 bill had a black man on it, which does imply a black president much, much earlier.

Maybe on their side, Thomas Jefferson succeeded in abolishing slavery with the Declaration, rather than folding to the pressure from the South. Mmmm.

It made good summer filler for the same reason (nothing was on!) I enjoyed watching it develop (quickly because I was marathoning on DVD).
