Thursday TV

Whew! What is the law that says darn near everything must air on Thursday?
Community - Stop Action Episode reminded me a bit of the Farscape Looney-Toons episode. It seemed a tad long, but I did enjoy the Christmas Pteradactyl and the bit of the final song saying the meaning of Christmas was "cookies... and liquor"
Big Bang Theory - God, enough with Amy Farrah Fowler. She's not that interesting nor very funny. Did enjoy Raj and Wolowitz 'wrestling' to who had to be Rat Man's sidekick with the "superhero zingers' though. Too bad the main plot sucked.
Fringe - Poor, poor Olivia. I feel like I say it every week but... poor Olivia! I rather loved (and by that I mean my heart broke) the scene where Peter worked up to telling her about his relationship with FauxLivia. You could see her heartbreak behind her eyes even as she tried to be mature and logical about it. That's the way to pull off that sort of thing. She knew and acknowledged that Peter had done nothing wrong and yet... and yet... her heart broke. It hurt and it was awful, and I felt so badly for her. And, I see what you did there, Fringe with the main plot being a guy trying to resurrect a dead girl with the point being she didn't come back the same. (And creepy ballet was CREEPY!!!!) Very good episode. Poor Olivia. *sniff*
Being Erica - It was more like Being Erica's "Normal Again." Like last year I thought that the episode was penned to work as either a season finale or a series finale. Everyone in Erica's family, and Erica herself got happiness. I really liked Sam asking for Erica's thoughts on Lenin what with Sam having been so angry when Erica warned Sam about Josh. Julianne got detente with Brent.... but they're really, really going to have to work to sell Brent as straight-enough to actually be into Julianne... if they come back. If not, I think we're supposed to 'understand' why Brent did the things he did. Erica's trip to the Alt_past also reinforced that while Erica's parents are in a bit of limbo they're in a far, far better place with one another than they were at the beginning of the show. Adam is, I suppose, current guy. And it works in case they end here. There's nothing permanent about it or objectionable, so whatever. And Erica got to be a "Therapist in training..." wonder who was the hand that touched her shoulder at the end...

I would also be burning my entire stock of underwear as well as the sheets at this point.
Creepy Ballet - Creepiest Thing Ever.

Date: 2010-12-10 03:45 pm (UTC)Nods. Tyler the bully is now finding himself crying in the arms of a girl, quite a reversal of last Season.

Date: 2010-12-10 03:49 pm (UTC)Vampire Diaries was great, as always. Tyler/Caroline are an unexpected little jewel of a relationship. Michael Trevino and Candice Accola both pack more acting chops than I'd expected. Ah, but I hope Rose doesn't die; I like her.

Date: 2010-12-10 04:46 pm (UTC)I think they've done a pretty good job with pairing Wolowitz with his girlfriend though. I've liked her addition to the show, giving Penny another girl (and a friend) to talk to who both is normal enough to understand Penny, who works with Penny, and who is geeky enough and science enough that she understands the guys. They can get rid of Amy Farrah Fowler any time they wish, though. Two Sheldons is really one too many.
...Of course Wolowitz's great bromance is Raj. I love Raj. I might even consider Raj as perhaps my favorite.
And, yes, I'm actually growing interested in a Matt/Caroline/Tyler triangle, and I never thought I'd say that!

Date: 2010-12-10 04:36 pm (UTC)And yeah, that marionette ballet was one of the creepiest things I've ever seen. /shudder
That was a really good episode. I'm not sure how I feel about them moving the show to Fridays. I hope this doesn't mean they're not planning on renewing it. Stupid Fox. :-(

Date: 2010-12-11 12:45 am (UTC)Usually, I just skip Community and wait until whenever it shows up on OnDemand (which can be days... or weeks. They don't seem to have a system). But last night I just let the DVR pick up Community and TVD and watched BBT on the tiny TV in the kitchen while I cooked dinner.

Date: 2010-12-11 02:48 am (UTC)Being Erica is getting picked up by SoapNet and will air the third season beginning in Jan, thank heavens. I hate watching tv on my computer. Don't know how you do it. I rather like Being Erica...wish we had more shows like that.
And it appears I'm going to have to watch reruns or rent Fringe at some point. Didn't try it last night - would have been lost. (I can't watch it because I love two tv shows that are opposite it.)
And TVD rocked again -just finished watching it. I swear that has got to be the fastest paced tv show on. It also demonstrates how you can do plot-twists, without either boring the audience, confusing the audience, or leaving large gaps in the silly attempt to fool/mislead the audience. A few writers I won't mention *cough*Whedon*cough*... need to watch TVD just to learn how to do an effective plot-twist.
I agree...they weren't kidding about that werewolf bite. (But damn, why do they keep killing off my favorite female characters??? First Anna and now Rose, who I adore. Was VERY worried about Caroline - who I also adore. That actress has surprised me. )

Date: 2010-12-11 05:18 am (UTC)And, yeah, I'm frequently astonished at the pacing of TVD. It's impressive how they have it move relentlessly foward. I wonder how long they can sustain that.

Date: 2010-12-11 05:25 am (UTC)Regarding DVD's? I think that's true about some tv shows. I admittedly rushed through and enjoyed True Blood and Dexter better than some did watching the series live. And it was certainly true about Farscape - the DVD's make it easier to ignore the weaker episodes. (Heck I noticed that when I rewatched Buffy a few years ago...I skipped over the episodes I didn't like.)

Date: 2010-12-11 01:04 am (UTC)Granted I loved "Blossom" (even though I was already an adult when it aired and really was too old for it) and so I'm probably predisposed to like the actress.
ITA on Sheldon/Penny. That one makes no sense to me at all, and it's everywhere. I kind of like that they can be friends without it being sexual. I have guy friends with no sexual component, and you don't see that much on TV.

Date: 2010-12-11 07:38 pm (UTC)Like last year I thought that the episode was penned to work as either a season finale or a series finale.
Oh, but it's not the season finale! We have one more episode to go! (And it's a Christmas ep, too, apparently.)
