Have to say, they staged the last scene well. Even knowing what was coming, they got me...perhaps even more than the book. I teared up for poor Ned, Sansa, and Arya.

Shae is different than I pictured.   I'm intrigued by that and the possibilities the (apparent) difference in personality might make.

Thought they pulled off Tyrion back story well as well. I wonder whether they actually edited it, or whether they're saving the other part for a later date. I could see it going either way.

Moment of hmm...  anyone think that Varys' talk with Ned is perhaps a hint about "A Dance with Dragons"?  I think I read that Martin told the producers where the plot is going and it would be neat if they slipped a bit of unknown connection in.

I found that last scene quite upsetting, even though I was pretty sure there was no way Ned would survive the season.

Yeah.

What was weird in the book was that they handled it in such a way that you weren't even sure what you thought happened just happened. You had to backtrack and re-read it to be sure (which Martin has done a few times, actually).

Poor Ned. He was a good man who loved his daughters and his family... and that's not enough in Westeros. :(
