Game of Thrones Casting

They've now cast several roles (Nine isn't Stannis. :(  Thomas Jefferson is...   He was good as Thomas Jefferson, though).  Anyway:

Stannis
Melisandre

Davos
Margaery
Brienne

And I can't help thinking that regardless of whether they announce it, they'll have to be casting a Ygritte and a Jeyne Westerling.

No clue about the characters and what they do, but approve very strongly of the casting. I've always liked Stephen Dillane.

Stannis (King Robert's brother who now believes he's the legitimate heir to the throne) and Melisandre and Davos all three go together. They're Stannis's side of the game of thrones.

Margaery is Loras's sister and Brienne is a female knight. They're both in the 'King' Renly faction (along with Loras... naturally).

The use of the plural in the book title "A Clash of Kings" was accurate. :)

Is A Clash of Kings the second book?

Also, why does Stannis think he should be king if no one but Ned knew that Joffrey was illegitimate?

Is A Clash of Kings the second book?

Yeah.

1. A Game of Thrones
2. A Clash of Kings
3. A Storm of Swords
4. A Feast for Crows
5. A Dance With Dragons

6. (?)The Winds of Winter(?)

And I don't remember whether 6 used to be said to be titled "A Time of Wolves" or whether 7. is rumored to be intended to be "A Time of Wolves"

Re: Stannis. I'm vague on this, but I seem to remember that in the books, Ned got a note off to Stannis re: the problems of the succession. In the book Stannis definitely knows the question of paternity. Renly certainly knows in book and show. So the rumor has already progressed further than Cersei can contain.

Yes, I suppose if Renly knows the secret is definitely out.

:is impatient for season 2:

Yeah. Basically Cersei's conversation with Joffrey in Season 1 when he was speaking of raising a personal army and she pointed out "why would they fight for you against their home?" was on point.

At this point why is anyone who isn't a Lannister or beholden/dependent upon the Lannisters and Lannister largesse going to fight against their own interests?

However, not for nothing, the Lannisters are extremely rich, and that's not to be sneezed at.

Davos was a fan favorite??? (Apparently I was the only one bored by his chapters?)

What happened to Eccleston - was it just a rumor that he was being cast in the series?

Dillian is a good choice, I think. They also cast Master Cressan - whoever he is.

I can guarantee you weren't the only one bored by Davos chapters. (It's sad when you're disappointed that a character survived a battle. Not because you hate him but because you can't quite figure out... why?)

I think Eccleston was a fandom rumor that got picked up by mainstream press... via fandom rumor.

Hee. And apparently he's still in the books as pov character, sigh. Co-worker who borrowed Clash of Kings from me - told me he was skimming Davos chapters! LOL!
(That works to an extent, except Martin hides bits of information on those chapters - so if you skim them or skip over them - you'll get lost later and go, wait, what did I miss?)

Oh well, the tv series may rememdy it - so far they've made several characters I loathed in the books, far more interesting and palatable in the tv series. Cersei amongst them.

Have come to the conclusion that I like the tv series better - perhaps being a tv series - it has to get to the point faster and not ramble? (shrugs)

Eccleston was a fandom rumor

Dang. It was a damn good fandom rumor!! Still waiting for The Blackfish, Edmure Tully, and Lord Balor (the guy with grey eyes whose a bit opportunistic) to be cast.
