TVGuide posted this (why I do not know!):

Could David Boreanaz land a role on the prestigious British drama Downton Abbey simply by asking for one? Fans will have to wait and see, but the Bones star thinks he'd make a great suitor for Lady Mary Crawley, and he's taken to Twitter to ask Julian Fellowes, the show's writer and executive producer, if he agrees. "I'd like to be that American cowboy who shakes things up at Downton Abbey. I'm open for a visit Mr Fellowes. #ITV @masterpiecepbs," the actor tweeted yesterday.

On the last episode of the British series' second season (SPOILER ALERT!), the family decides to send Lady Mary to visit family in America to wait out an imminent scandal. "Find a cowboy in the Middle West and bring him back to shake us up a bit," her father, the Earl of Grantham (Hugh Bonneville), tells her.

Would you like to see Boreanaz romance Lady Mary? Or has she already endured enough scandal?

Although this does remind me of that afternoon I caught "I Capture the Castle", where none other than Marc Blucas was the "American cowboy" (well maybe not cowboy.  Just wealthy American) that caught the British girl's heart (and convinced her to leave her British-esque (it's complicated) fiance).

Actually, that one isn't a bad movie.  Sort of interesting.

DB on Downton Abbey, though?  LOL!  Would it come with a "Liam" wig?

Please no. I'd hope they could attract better acting talent than Boreanze. Stay on Bones, David, where I can blissfully ignore you. ;-)

He's clearly joking. DB is a huge prankster - known for his practical jokes on Angel. Because we know they aren't going that route...from the finale. Was rather relieved. For a while I worried that we'd have to follow Mary to America and watch Matt compete with Americans for her hand...sigh.

No, thank you very much! Don't get me wrong, I like DB well enough, but in Downton Abbey? A world of no!

Talk about a psychic disconnect! Worlds upon worlds of no. In fact, Mulder and Scully say that it would qualify as an X-File.

... Can JM be on Downtown Abbey instead? ... But only if he gets to wear the FFL wig. If it's the LMPTM wig, the whole thing's off.

Obviously they have not seen the Christmas special.

They filmed chunks of 'I Capture The Castle' here on the small island.

When I read that first sentence, my only thought was, "Oh, dear god, please don't let him be an Irishman. LOL

Oh good grief. Was anyone watching the last episode? Mary and Matthew are engaged! Which means that until that Patrick-burned-guy comes back to make trouble, everyone in the Crawley family will be dancing jigs of joy over them finally getting back together. The name is saved, Downton is saved, etc. etc.

More importantly, I doubt very much Fellowes would want to endure the tsunami of fan hatred which would follow another split-up between them. Also, Boreanaz as her "cowboy suitor?" Ridiculous. I guess Boreanaz is under the impression that everyone in the UK is an Angel fan and would fall all over themselves to see this happen. I'll bet Fellowes doesn't even know who the hell he is.

Now if he signed on to play an American who was interested in poor Edith, maybe it would be plausible. But Being Boreanaz, he's have to have the "prize" Crawley girl. As I said, ridiculous.
