If I ever wrote a crossover fic...

When doing the cancelled show meme, Leslie asked about one of the shows that I had listed. Since it had been years since I had seen the show, I visited the website to refresh my memory and found a few quotes:

Devil: "You know, before they invented the elevator, I had to walk all the way from hell."
Stone: "Glad to hear it."
Devil: "Second throughts, Ezekiel?"
Stone: "Can't you find someone else to torture?"
Devil: "Millions of them. They can wait. Everyone's in such a rush. I say, stop and smell the burning flesh of sinners."

* * * * * * * *

Devil: "If it means anything, I'm sorry. . .Sort of. . .Well, no, I'm not."

Devil: "The only thing I ever loved was God. And that was a long time ago."

Last night it struck me that if I ever chose to write a crossover fic an Ats/Brimstone fic could be cool. What with Angel having convinced Spike that it they died they'd be doomed to hell, I'd like to think it was Brimstone's hell they were doomed to. Spike and Brimstone's Lucifer would get along famously. And Spike could do a hella bang up job of returning to earth to track down those escapees from hell that Ezekiel was originally supposed to track down.

That was a good show, and it would be an even cooler crossover. I can't help remembering the woman Ezekiel had to track down for killing her child - and it turns out she was a Priestess whose religion demanded the sacrifice. So deliciously complex and grey a show - Spike would be a natural addition to it.

Yeah, as I remembered the show it struck me that Spike was a perfect fit for the strange (somewhat inverted) morality of the show. He'd "fit" that universe which is usually the trip-up with crossovers.

He's the little black duster among characters though, and can work in so many settings and with so many characters it's spooky.

I have to finish "When Darkness Falls" first. I'm damned and doggedly determined to finish that one even if it is taking absolutely forever. I also have an idea for a Illyria/Spike/Dru fic (no, seriously. :)

Still, along with the quotes from Brimstone was an outline of what the last half of the season would have been if it had been produced. I admit I was intrigued by one of these unproduced episodes. I think it could be reworked into a really interesting fic.

Ep 16 was to have been:
Stone tracks down what he THINKS is a Damned Soul, but turns out instead to be a Rogue Angel bored with heaven, desperate to taste everything life has to offer -- including Sex, Drugs, Rock & Roll, and murder! Stone has to figure out how to trick the bad Angel into going back to Heaven -- with a little help from someone who 'aint the Devil and prompts the Devil into yelling at the Heaven's: "He's working for me, not you!"

I could see possibilities for such a plot. I always thought Brimstone's Lucifer was taken from "Paradise Lost," which would provide an interesting angle on such a story (and could provide an interesting cast of characters).

Yes, that's what I was going to say. I'm working on B7 stuff while I wait to get reinspired on Covalence; a change is as good as a rest. And since it's Spike, you can still send it to the beta group.
