High School Meme gakked from [personal profile] nmissi :

Who was your best friend?
I guess, Susan, though in her periodic doomed bouts of trying to achieve greater popularity by hanging out with "more important" people I'd find myself friend-dumped.  I suppose my most consistent friends that I hung out with were Lee, Seth, and Elliott.

What sports did you play?
Cheerleader... What?   We went to Nationals, okay.    I have ribbons and stuff.   Shut up. ;)

What kind of car did you drive?
white Chevy Celebrity

It's Friday night, where were you at?
Pep Rally, Football Game, After Game Dance,  Cleaning Up after After Game Dance  (later in the year replace 'Football' with 'Basketball.'   We weren't required to do stuff in baseball season though.)

Were you a party animal?
Never was, never will be.

Were you in the "In Crowd"?
Uh... it's complicated.   I sure as hell never felt  like it.  I certainly was in no way part of whatever social control/power group/ taste setting group that seemed to hold sway over these things.  But I was always allowed on the outter circles so I can't claim 'outsider' status either.  I suppose I did sit at 'the popular table' at lunch... on the fringes of it anyway.  And, I suppose I had all the trappings of it (Cheerleader, Class Secretary, Belle Lettres--and no, I don't know what that was supposed to mean.  To give an equivallent it was something of a high school sorority except you didn't rush for it, you were simply 'chosen.'  Yeah, it does sound pretty vile but it was completely lame and innocuous and consisted of little more than dressing up and going to meetings twice a month-- Secretary of JETS (Junior Engineering Technical Society) and I held a few other cliched high school honors/positions/whatever)  But, honestly, those were activities not friendships and, all that stuff aside, I never felt popular.

Ever skip school?
Oh hell no.  My mother would have murdered me. Then dug up my grave and murdered me again.  To stay home sick I had to prove a fever and even then I was told "get up, get dressed, and see if you feel better."

Ever smoke?
Nope.  Look, I was disgustingly straight-laced and preppy, okay? I was an honors student as well. Shoot me.

Were you a nerd?
Quasi-closeted nerd.  I was good in science, loved science fiction, and constantly had my nose in a book, but I had the contradiction of the other stuff as well.  I suppose I was...eclectic.

Did you get suspended/expelled?
Remember when I said my mother would have murdered me if I had skipped school?  If I had been rebuked, suspended, or expelled, you wouldn't have even found my murdered corpse after she was done with me.  I would have been giblets somewhere.

Can you sing the Alma Mater?
No, but I still know the dance routine to the fight song.

Who was your favorite teacher?
Mr. Johnson, AP Biology teacher who disposed of the textbook and just taught...very well, I might add.  He managed to teach not only biology, but also how to take notes, and how to ace essay exam questions.

Favorite class?
Biology and/or Literature

What was your school's full name?
Monroe County High School

School mascot?
Tiger

Did you go to Prom?
Um... I was the prom director.  I sort of designed the whole aesthetic, set the theme, hired the band, etc.  Didn't have a boyfriend or anything, but asked a really nice (very gay) guy to go with me just because I knew he'd be great fun at the dance.  And he was.

If you could go back and do it over, would you?
Well...huh... yes and no.  I mean, I was mostly MISERABLE my senior year.  I had all the teen angst going, and there were plenty of problems and unhappiness to go around.  But, I think I took it all way too seriously.  I think there were things that I enjoyed as well.  Tell you one thing, I would love to be in the SHAPE I was in back then.  Lord, I would cheer for three hours at a game and then go to a dance, then show up for practice the next morning.  I haven't been (and never will be) in that kind of physical shape again.

What do you remember most about graduation?
Seth, Elliott, and I say how much we HATED the school and the three of us getting ready to drive to New Orleans where we (and the rest of the group) boarded a cruise ship headed to the Bahamas for the Senior Trip.  Elliott was blind drunk for three days straight and Seth spent all his money  buying a knock-off  Rolex from someone...and had to bum off of everyone else for the rest of the trip (and, yes, if you're wondering, a couple of years later Seth-- to the shock of absolutely no one -- came out as gay.)

Favorite memory of your Senior Year?
Other than the one's above, a group of us going through the BJCC singing "I'm just a gigalo..." at the top of our lungs at 1am.  And, oh (this one is rather mean... or poetic justice. I fell justice), being at cheerleder camp and everyone turning on that two-faced, lying backstabber  Melinda for having schemed and backdealed her way into becoming head cheerleader instead of me and their calling a meeting saying they wanted to vote her out and me in (I declined their doing so, but damn that vindication felt good).  And THEN -- hee!-- I was chosen for "All American" (i.e. 'best cheerleader honor for the camp') while Melinda didn't even make semi-finals.  Oh, and we earned the right to compete at Nationals that year but Melinda didn't want to go because they could go 'next year' (after I graduated). She got out-voted and we went anyway, and after I graduated that spring they never qualified again.  Shadenfreude, baby!

Were you ever posted up on the senior wall?
Huh?  I was in the Senior's 'Who's Who" if that's what you mean.  Elliot and I were nominated as his and her 'best school spirit' which we both thought was hilarious as we freaking hated the school by that point.

Did you have a job your senior year?
Not really.  Too many school activities, though I would pitch in at my mom's interior design business from time to time

Who did you date?
10th grade I dated Tom Welch but 11th and 12th I had no real boyfriend.  Usually my date for dances was a foreign exchange student from Denmark named Soren.  He was cute and good to hang-out with, but we were never boyfriend/girlfriend.

Where did you go most often for lunch?
Lunchroom.  My school had strict rules that no one was allowed outside -- except during P.E. --during the day.  The VP patrolled the parkinglots.

Have you gained weight since then?
Oh hell yes.

What did you do after graduation?
Senior trip.  Then I accompanied my sister and brother-in-law to England for a few months.  My BIL had a fellowship at Guys Hospital in London and my preggers sis didn't want to be alone all day during that time.  Since I'd have a free place to stay, Mom allowed me go with my sis until my university classes started in late September.
