So last week the First Lady floored me with her oh-so-biting remarks, but now I have a new favorite Why the President Sucks speech — from none other than everyone's favorite (and not at all dead!) Secret Service rock star, Agent Pierce: "There is nothing that you have said or done that is acceptable to me in the least. You're a traitor to this country and a disgrace to your office, and it's my duty to see that you're brought to justice for what you've done. Is there anything else... Charles?" Outstanding, simply outstanding. Among the other dialogue gems this hour: Henderson's impatient "Come on, Jack — you can't really believe that Charles Logan masterminded all of this by himself" (word) and Martha's incredulous "You're going to shoot the First Lady?" Actually, Martie, I'm pretty sure you're going to shoot him.... yep, there it is. Nice knowing you, Agent Spare Tire.
I'm enjoying the Aaron & Martha Show almost as much as Bauer & Henderson, arch-nemeses turned buddy cops. How much would those guys accomplish if they could just get along? Didn't they watch CHiPs? And since we're only two small hours from the magic 24-hour mark, it's that that time where everything old is new again: Bierko's on the loose with a canister of nerve gas, the president's got no idea what's happening right underneath his nose, and Jack's reputation as a man of his word works both for and against him. I love when it all comes full circle... as long as "full circle" also includes a newly compromised submarine with 12 big ol' city-destroying missiles on board. Let the "Hunt for Red Bierko" begin!
And in unrelated news, does it make me a complete and total whackjob that I paused the show midway through to figure out where and when, exactly, you could find gas in the Los Angeles metro area for $2.93 a gallon? Remind me to start taking the CTU shortcut to work.
