1)  Saw Batman Rises this weekend on HBO.  I never saw this one in the movie, primarily because I rather disliked the previous movie in the trilogy.  I liked this one better than I thought I would.  Never would have thought of casting Anne Hathaway as Catwoman, but she did a pretty good job.  All in all, I liked it better than the previous installments.

2)  Made a cheesecake for Father's Day.  My sister also made a cheesecake for Father's Day. We had a lot of cheesecake yesterday.  Today, back to diet.

3)  Watched the first ep of the new season of True Blood.  I have no frakking idea where this is going...

4) Mad Men -  It pains me to say this, but Don was not wrong.  That said, neither was Peggy.  He did the right thing but entirely for exactly the reasons that Peggy accused him of. Pete and Bob -- hah!  And I was right about Bob being the new Don, and Pete totally sees it too. :)

I just don't even know with TB any more. I did like the Eric/Sookie scene.

I agree--Don was not wrong. Ted/Peggy are grossing out everyone in the office, and they have to stop.

I don't ask a lot of True Blood. It's crack, so I'm just there for the ride.

And Don was right in his rationalizations (because I think they were just rationalization. He did what he did out of passive-aggression and vindictiveness, but Peggy/Ted were being foolish and annoying. Still he so totally engineered the meeting with the client for maximum humiliation (similar to the way he retaliated against Roger with the martini and oyster puking way back when.) So Peggy was not wrong about Don doing stuff in what amounts to a rather mean way.

She's setting herself up idolizing Ted. And Ted is really a bit of a martyr. But Don is totally a monster of his own creation. Don alienates everyone eventually. He'd rather avoid Sally than deal with what actually happened. And rather than speak with either Peggy or Ted like they were people (much less equals) he first creates a situation, then ties a metaphorical noose around their necks and pushes them out on a ledge to watch them choke and flail, then he swoops in to 'save' the situation. So, I think Peggy wasn't wrong in what she said... even though she was wrong in what she was doing. Sort of like Don wasn't wrong in what he thought was wrong about what Peggy/Ted were doing, but Don is incredibly hypocritical and passive aggressive so he choice the route of maximum hurt to 'teach' Peggy and Ted a 'lesson.'

Me neither, but I'm enjoying the ride so far.

I pretty much watch True Blood for the frivolous crack, so I don't actually expect much beyond amusing me (and on that score it provided a few laughs). No idea where they're taking this though.

I thought the tidbits of upcoming episodes were more interesting than the actual episode. Although I did laugh at poor Andy and his offspring.

I noticed that Batman Rises is now on HBO but I wasn't in the mood to look at it. Maybe I will if you liked it so much.

Honestly, I deeply disliked the last Batman movie, so I went in with seriously low expectations. It's still gritty and weapons manufacturer heavy, but I did like the way they slipped in Catwoman and Robin. There are still some issues (I frequently don't like Nolan movies), but there were also parts that I liked. (And I've always kind of shipped Batman/Catwoman, so that part sort of worked for me).

TB - I'm with you there. I'll keep watching but I have no idea what they're trying to build up to and I'm beginning to suspect that they don't either.

Batman Rises - I really enjoyed it and was also pleasantly surprised by Anne Hathaway's Catwoman. I just seriously wish they hadn't gone the stupid cheesecake route and had her wear stilettos. The comic book Catwoman long ago moved over to a more realistic combat type boot. Stupid men and their stupid fetishes.

They do lov casting Catwoman as teasing (although, thinking about it, they didn't really do a lot of that. They did have her 'pretend helpless' in order to manipulate her escape but she was pretty hard character (which, surprisingly is where Anne Hathaway worked. It really depends on the actress silently expressing some feeling and emotion becuase as far as what she says she doesn't really crack. Any softness has to be read on her face.) But, yeah, you can tell men write these things because no woman would ever convince themselves that anyone would wear six inch stilletos for any "practical" purpose (not even using them to stab people. You still would be hampered by walking in the darn things!)

True Blood turned so serious and doom in there for a bit. I was completely bored during the first 15 minutes when it was all run from Bill, etc. I'm not really crazy about Pam and Eric's fractured relationship, and I don't care about Pam and Tara's relationship. I figured Luna was dead, but it sucked that she basically lasted five seconds. And I'm sort of bored with Jason being back on the vampire hate bandwagon, like they just don't know what to do with him.

I'm totally with you and inot giving a crap about Pam/Eric's fractured 'relationship'. Other than amorphous 'blood bond' even with last years flashback I STILL don't get Pam's devotion to Eric.

That said, I don't ask a lot of True Blood. I mostly amuse myself with how cracky it is.

One interesting thing is the way Don said to Ted, "We've all been there...well, not with Peggy." Given that things are going badly between him and Megan, and that he still has resentment about her career choices, his trying to trash Ted and Peggy's relationship (or at least trash it seeping into their work) is part revenge fantasy, part twisted caretaking to prevent them from making the same "mistakes."

When you said Batman Rises, I totally thought a new animated Batman film had been released. Took me a second to realize it was The Dark Knight Rises. ;-)
