i09 has a review (or rather a play-by-play) of the pilot of Sleepy Hollow... and it's flipping hilarious!

Who cares if you watch the show, the hilarity of the recap is worth a read.

Thanks for the link! I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed the pilot. I mean, it was REALLY REALLY SILLY, but I thought it was fun and entertaining, and I liked both of the leads a lot.

Same here.

It was entertaining, atmospheric, and very, very silly. Hey, that kind of works for me. (Plus, the male lead is cute and I really liked the female lead).

Oh my God - I was trying to explain the SH pilot to my husband (who was quickly getting bored) and I hastily finished up with "It's The X-Files, only about 60 times weirder and cheesier." Hah.

I liked the pilot in all its bat-shit craziness, mostly because of the leads, who I also told my husband were the best genre leads I'd seen since Mulder/Duchovny and Scully/Anderson. Well, so far. They're the strongest reason for watching again (even though I loathed Mison's character in Parade's End).

Which is totally and completely true!

I'm willing to embrace cheesy and weird as long as it entertains. :)

That one is just as much fun as the EW review, although I like the mustache on Orlando Jones on this one.

OMG! So much Awesome in one place! I want to marry that reviewer ;)

Loved the show, too. Gonna watch Brooklyn 9-9 this morning after I make a milk run.

Great review, right.

My fave bits:

a cave decorated like Halloween at Anthropologie

...his wife has used the bird to summon him to the netherworld that holds her captive for coven reasons (she’s part of an ancient order dedicated to stopping this evil, because of course), and maybe to ask for a jacket or something, because her coven has pulled a costume prank on her...

At last, the Horseman must face the dawn (daylight’s his only enemy! Daylight and George Washington)

Meanwhile, the people on the bench had a fender bender or something and came into the Sheriff’s office, and the rest of their lives will be haunted by questions about that preserved head in the pickle jar the Captain was talking about

He tells Abbie that George Washington’s Bible insists they fight evil together for seven years (and a movie), with his Romantic Lead Face dialed to eleven

Hah! :D

Those and so much more - I actually loved the comments in which the birders were coming back with the correct bird name ;)
