LOL at i09's summary of Once from this week.  Gotta say, I spotted that curse problem too.

From i09:

The whole thing was a ruse so the Wicked Witch could curse Hook's mouth so that the next time he kissed Emma he would drain her of her magical powers. Which makes sense, because who wouldn't curse the mouth of the guy the heroine may or may not use? As opposed to her car door, her child's hand or the toilet seat. Because this is a gamble the Wicked Witch is willing to take... because kissing!

It's like that scene in Austin Powers where Dr. Evil wouldln't let Scott just kill Austin but insisted on his unecessarily complicated plan, then leaving the room and only assuming that Austin dies.

Seriously.

Also funny:

Also, everyone else (including his own crew) has changed into Storybrooke clothes. Hook is still wearing the same, entirely leather ensemble. At this point, the juices have sealed in.

But you know what, screw it. I still like Killian. He's like one half theater kid who just discovered he can totally wear the shit out of his mother's eyeliner, and another half sexy English teacher you actually read the books for. He works, it's mostly the acting. Because Jesus, that outfit has been played out. He even looks miserable hauling that 1,000 foot leather duster around set, but Killian wears it. He wears it so hard.

You gotta give the actor credit for selling that role. He really sold that episode. While MRJ was sort of phoning it in as Baelfire, Colin D was acting his heart out.

Apparently Killian's sexy costume isn't going anywhere...reminds me of Spike's, which they played with...but ultimately stuck with.

They may eventually play with Hook's - he's standing out. EVERYONE else has changed their clothes...but Killian. Although, Emma does appear to wear the same leather jacket as well.

Yeah, I don't know what was going on with MRJ, whether it was miscasting, boredom, or something else. But MRJ didn't seem particularly challenged/engaged...which, hey, the writing isn't great and they weren't using him well so I can understand. Then again, it may be chicken and egg. Who knows why some things don't work.

The Hook guy though seems to be having fun, and with something as essentially silly as Once, the fun factor makes quite a bit of difference.

Felt more or less the same way regarding MRJ. It could be any number of reasons...

I'll be surprised if he pops up again at any rate.

Colin O'Donohue who plays Hook is having a blast. But this is also his first television role. Unlike MRJ, he hasn't really had many parts - so he's hungry and needs to prove himself.

Apparently came from a theater background. And his idol is Robert Carlyle, who plays Rumplestilskin.

He and Ichabod should join a LARPing community together. And. There's something to be said for guyliner and a leather duster. The Spike parallels are just there, though Emma is no Buffy.

Well, they do share Jane Eperson, so it's probably not all that shocking. :)
